So after reading a thread he started in the mountain bike colonie, it occurred to me that it had never occurred to me that Joe had a last name. He mentioned his last name and I was like, wait a minute here, theres another word after Joe? I thought Joe was like Cher, or Madonna, or the one he is often compared to, God.
<rant> Ok so i have new "thing" thats annoying me, so I'm going to write about it..... People who have to go around telling everyone that they are a "snowboard bum". Like, if thats what you are can't you just be it, why do you have to go around saying that all the time? and when anyone asks a question their response is something to the effect of "it doesn't matter and if you were a real snowboard bum you wouldnt be asking a question in life, you'd be snowboarding". Ive noticed these people also post a lot about how uncool it is to post cuz you should be out snowboaring....Am I the only one who sees the irony in this? you know what, get over yourself </rant>
ok so I got the Canon Rebel XT DSLR today. Someone help me learn how to use it now!! I am so excited to start shooting with it!

So heres a couple things that are driving me nuts about this site
lately...well not exactly about the site, but the people on it..
1. It seems that some peoples attitude is...If you don't have the
bestest most expensivest equipment you must suck and dont even bother
doing whatever it is you do. Whether it's your snowboard equipment,
your video equipment, your camera, your computer, or whatever. Also
don;t even bother wasting yours or anyones time asking questions about
it or you will get told you suck.
2. This is similar to 1, but slightly different. If you don;t like the
same type of music as about 4 certain people on this site you must suck
and might as well kill yourself. Again, dont bother asking questions or
stating opinions about the types of music you like, or the bands you
like or you will literally be told to kill yourself.
Number 1 makes me angry but also makes me laugh because you know what,
I have fairly expensive snowboard equipment, but guess what..I SUCK!!
hahaha and I have a shi*tty video camera, a medicre camera, and a
excellent computer, although it is NOT A MAC...and for that reason
alone it is deemed shi*t by most people on this site. However, even
though my digital equipment is mediocre, I work full time as a web and
graphic designer, I edit videos for fun and put them up here for
everyone to critique, and I think I do a pretty decent job.
Number 2 annoys me because its just so narrow minded and its so scoolyard bullyish.
Anyways, i realize the things I talked about doesnt reflect everyones
attitudes, its just something that seems to be sticking out to me
lately and it's getting so old and tired.

SO apparently someone does read blogs...so I'll write a real one
I am going to share my freak out story of the day.
I am walking from work down to the train station this evening, and all
of a sudden this police van pulls onto a side street that I am about to
cross. 3 cops jump out and run infront of me and kind of swarm this
black SUV thats parked on the side of the road. This is all while I am
walking right by it.
So the police kinda look in the windows and circle the vehicle. There are people inside the vehicle, I can see thier outlines.
Now for those of you who have heard of recent happenings in Toronto,
recent shootings have me (and I bet I am not alone) kind of, well more
than kind of, on edge. So this is the point where I am convinced the
people inside the SUV are going to all jump out and start spraying
bullets.
Well that didnt happen, in fact, the police just kinda of looked at
each other and shrigged and walked off after a few moments. The
wierdest part was that no words were exchanged at all. Dont you think
that if you were sitting in your vehicle and cops surrounded you, you
might roll down your window and say "can I help you officer?"
So the police walk away and moments later the SUV starts up and takes off.
Weird.

it doesnt matter what i write here, I am convinced no one reads my "blog" anyways.
So I got this small freelance job. It had an extrememly tight deadline,
but it was a fairly simple 2 sided promotional card...or so I thought.
When it was first proposed to me, they seemed to have a concept in
mind, but told me repeatedly that while they wanted it modern and edgy,
i have creative control.
Well, turns out this was far from the truth. What the really wanted was
this extremely detailed, extremely well done illustration and turns out
they actually were very particular about colours, fonts, layout, etc
etc. It took me 2.5 days, (out of a 4 day timeline), and 2 designs to
get this out of them. So day 3, I give it another shot, since I can
illistrate to some extent, but with only 2 nights left to work, I knew
it was going to be hard.
Anyways, long story short, at the end of day 3 I realize I hadnt heard
from them at thier regular time of touching base with me...well over 24
hours later I still havent heard from them. I guess they decided not to
work with me.
I am very pissed off, they havent even had the guts to tell me they are
going to work with someone else. And I sure as hell will never see any
money for the 3 days I worked for them. This is extremely
unprofessional, not to mention immature of them.
I have learned a valuable lesson though, never again will I start any
freelance work on good faith. Contracts will be a must from now on, and
a deposit is required before I will start any work.
Luckily it wasnt a huge job and they were paying me next to nothing for
what they wanted done so I didnt lose all that much. It's just really
frustrating to know how many people don;t seem to think graphic design
(which is not the same as an illustrator to start with) is a "real job"
that deserves validation for the time and effort that goes into
designing something. So many people just expect you to slap something
together in a couple of hours, and then wonder why it looks like its
slapped together! Mind you, my illustration did NOT look slapped
together, infact, it was the best I have done yet! (thank you spencer)
The lady looks at it and has the nerve to say, can we turn her head
just a bit and put his arm up on his shoulder. As if they are models
and its just as easy as tilting her head a little. (duh its an
illustration and you have to earase and do it over. Then she thinks I
take too long when I tell her those things will take another couple
hours.
I definately don;t need a client like that, good ridance. Oh and they
are photographers, you think they might have a little understanding
when it comes to creative work, but no. Oh and the best part was, since
they are photographers, I thought it best to model my illustration
after one of thier own photos, and she says, "no we don't have any
photos nearly edgy enough!" Well, my question back would be, then why
the hell do you want to market yourself as this ultra edgy (which by
the way is a word I now dispise!) photography company, when your work
is elegant and sophisticated??
Some people!

now that v2 has launched and is running fairly smoothly, it makes me
miss my train every single day. I then have to take a later train and
don't get my tim horton's coffee on my way to work. I really miss my
tim hortons coffee.

So we are officially at 20 days left until Christmas. I bought my
boyfriend his Christmas gift today. I got him a LTD Fury 154. I think I
got a pretty good deal on it and I think its a decent intermediate
board. This will be his first real season snowboarding so I hope this
is a good board for him and I hope he likes it!
Anyone have any experience with this board? if so, let me know what you think

I have to say I am completely shocked at all the bitching everyone is
doing about the new site. The new site is waaaaay better than the old
one and has so much potential to be just a totally awesome site.
Apparently no one understands the hard work that goes into coding
something like this and has any patience to let the bugs get worked out.
Bitching about the new site just makes you sound like a whiney, bratty, arrogant, idiot.
So anyways, I just want to use this space here to thank Joe and the
other's for the awesome site they are creating and all the hard work
they have put in. I also want to tell them not to listen to all the
stupid posts about the site sucking, (although I am sure they are smart
enough not to listen to that anyways).
Its unfortunate that even though the new site is awesome, the haters always speak up louder than the people who appreciate it.
I am really disgusted by many many people from sb.com right now and I
hope maybe people can take a minute and think before they speak about
the site. If you don't like it, leave.
