Just one thing to say.....

Thank-you Radgalz for the bestest most funnest contest ever!!! Sarah you totally have it dialed...even if set up goes a little late into the night. The sense of comradery (is that how you spell it?) that develops is so totally awesome. After riding all year with only boys at Manning it was so much fun to see so many shredin' ladies! Besides Lindseys sick ass 540's and Merium's (also bad spell job) sneaky snake during the boarder cross open finals which earned her the win, there was yoga, the best fashion show ever, and on hill dj Lee, who spun excellent tunes for the slopestyle competition on Saturday.

Prizes where huge and sponsers like Billabong, Burton, Nomis (tenaya you rock), The Renegades, Sessions, Beaver Wax, Chicco's, Island Snow, and tons others i'm probably forgeting, spoiled us ladies rotten.

Just to mention a few other ladies i saw shreddin it up:

Jade and Tess- they are 11 and 14 and pose a serious threat in competitions. Competing in the Open category in Slopestyle and Boardercross these two are head for great, great things.

Rachel (lifty from last year) - Cleaned up in Open and took home a G-twin, sick, oh so sick, I missed her run, but a season in New Zealand did her good, the boys can't stop talking about how well you have been doing this year. I think they have a crush on you...

The Stiles - this is a family shred unit, Mom Janet, Oldest Daughter Kiara (16) and youngest Mika (10) all placed in the contest this year, well done ladies!! I doubt this family ever has to buy new clothes with all the wins they take home in a season.

Much love to everyone who competed...

And then there are the behind the scenes people:

Mo and Kelly: These two make Sarah's every dream come true....from banner placement to registration, these guys do everything that keeps the show running.

So I guess thanks Sarah and Radgalz for the bestest competition ever, i met the nicest people, rode with seriously talented girls and saw beginners fall in love with snowboarding.

Ola shredheads,

Now I know no one can compete with Whistler when it comes to parks, they have limitless money and an army of park staff, but how about Grouse, Cypress, Big White? Well you decide. Manning Park a little known shredders haven located between Hope and Princeton has been quietly creating a force to be reckoned with. Jay, Ty and Brett have  put in more rails then you can shake your jib stick at and count it, 5 tables. Two small beginners, which progress up to a 65 foot wedge that is beyond perfect. While working in the park i have heard many a times, "holy shi*t, that is a big jump" from the chair. The flat-down and down rail at the top of the park are at eye-level for me and i'm 5'10" so they sit nice and high out the of the ground. The channel gap was sessioned this weekend by skiers at 'Lord of the Park" and I know that snowboarders can hit it with more style. As a part-time park staff it breaks my heart to think that the park isn't being used to its full potential. I can't keep it a secret any more.......... Manning with no money and only two full-time staff members and a piece of sh*t old cat has a park that rivals anyones in BC outside Whistler. Don't believe the web-site photos they're from last year. Head to Manning on a weekend, when the park is perfectly groomed by Ty and check it out for yourself.

Dudes and Dudettes,

So totally stoked for this weekend, not only are we holding "lord of the park" (a ski competition so i won't get into it), but we are holding a beginners clinic in our beautiful park. Park riding can be a tough scene to get into, it can be intimidating if you are new to the park monkey experience, so here at Manning we have come up with a solution. Lets hand the park over to a bunch of beginners and teach them the basics of park riding. Things like, don't uses your edges when on a rail or fun box, and if you bail at the bottom of a table slide your broken ass to the side and clear the landing so you don't make the situation worse by having the next person land on you......you know the basics. A friendly environment, with no egos, WHAT?! Park riding with no ego???? Yup, you read correct, so beginners feel free to come out and shred with some seasoned riders who are going to teach you all you need to know for only 5 bucks. Does it get any better?? Oh yeah it does, Ty, Jay and Brett hauled Carl's beat up old truck into the park and turned it into a new feature.....sick. Watch for pictures.

Much Love,

Cassandra

Hello everyone,

The Park Grand Opening Party was a total hit, we made the bar more money then New Years Eve, yup thats right, we are the party. I personally rode the park Saturday, and Monday afternoon, it was amazing, it is so obviously constructed by people who know what they are doing, good job boys, good job.....................Chaunce made it out from K-town and the two of us and Katie passed the time on the Greyhound by sharing stories and mickeys of vodka and rum, what a shi*t show. Much love Manning Park, you never disapoint.

Hey shredders

It is finally done, all that volunteer time and our labour of love, the Manning Park Terrain Park is finally done. There is a party this Friday, January 19 at the local pub to celebrate our awesome cat operator (Ty), head of park staff (Jay) and the dedicated volunteers for their fabulous job on the sweet channel gap, table and rail set up. Everyone is welcome and for those of you who don't know, which will be most of you, Manning Park is located about 2.5 hours out of Vancouver up the Crow's Nest between Hope and Princeton. Local DJs spinning and lots of beers to cheers, should be a total blast.

Hope to see you there,

Cassandra
