Although Marty has been busy shredding up the Grouse mountain and hitting the lab with K-man from IS design working on weather patterns, he has suggested that we get a Jesse Fox update posted, and pronto! So here we go with Foxy. Although Jesse has a few shots in last year's Big Blind, this was the first full season he filmed for Whiteout. Most of his shots were filmed up in the Whistler backcountry, where Jesse lives throughout the winter months. As soon as the season is done, Foxy holds it down in Vancouver where he recently got a new condo set up. Jesse has been around for a while, and has switched it up from the contest scene over to concentrating on filming a tight movie part. He had a sick section in Wear It Well, and you can see most of his shots via digital photographs in the latest issue of Snowboard Canada where Foxy has a full on interview and the cover shot. Foxy shreds it up for Rome Snowboards and bindings, NFA clothing, Oakley, Grouse mountain and Budweiser. Check out the laser beam coming out of Fox's beer can, one of Foxy's go-to party tricks.

Here's a little update on the main man behind the scenes and the lens at Whiteout. Anthony was once the team manager for Shorty's and for Westbeach back in the day, and even a pro shredder before that. He is now the Producer of the Whiteout movies aswell as the head cameraman, and often ends up our designated driver as he seems to be the responsible one. Everyone at Whiteout gives Twonner a pretty hard time on a regular basis, and he ends up being a pretty good sport with all of us. Not many people would laugh off their truck being thrashed up by a bunch of crazy Frenchman on Halloween, but he sure did. Twon is the guy who organizes all of the film shoots and motivates the riders to get the shot. He is the first one there in the parking lot every morning, and always has a coffee in hand. Here is a little photo of Anthony filming Devun's wedding this past May in Maui, where he made sure the whole wedding was perfectly documented while the rest of us drank as much champagne as possible. The next one is Twon, Mikey and Paavo waiting for their Vente triple shot skim lattes at the mall. Anthony and the rest of us here at Whiteout are getting pretty hyped for the season, and judging by how the season is off to such a bangin' start, you're probably going to see some crazy footage from the Whistler backcountry.

Looks like people are steppin' it up in the hairdo contest and not just gonna let the J-man take the Wear It Well and Big Blind prize pack so easily. Not the most classy haircut ever, but awesome nonetheless. Here is shi*thead!

I mentioned a quick bit about it a couple days ago, but here is the actual scientific evidence of the legends of shredding on Blackcomb's opening day. The only guys missing would be Johnson, Kearns, and Kevin Young. If you don't know what I am talking about, you really need to watch some old snowboard videos, and you are an idiot. The first shot is Marc Morrisett, Wes Makepeace, Dano Pendygrasse, myself, Alex Warburton, Devun and JF. I pretty much just snuck into the shot to show I am down with these guys. The picture was taken by fellow legend and Whiteout Filmer Anthony Vitale. Quick Fact- Wes launched huge road gaps with no shirts on (Whisky 2), and Marc and KY have the best shred-style... ever. The second photo is Shin Campos, Browner, Brad Makepeace, Chris Dufficy, Roth, Colin Adair, Dano, Kale and Warburton. We all had a sweet-ass time up there, and it is always fun to meet up with these guys. What you should do now is try and find some of the amazing movies these dudes were in, including the Whisky videos, Child Games, Sexual Chocolate, A Young, Brown Walsh, and see how good all these guys are. "History,my friends, is just as important as Science!!" Marty.

Just wanted to let everyone out there who thinks they have a wicked hairdo to know what they are up against. Here is the leader so far, Jonathan. As of now, he'll be known as the J-man. Good luck beating this guy. Yeah J-man!

OK, here we go, time for another contest. The Halloween contest had some pretty weak submissions, so we voted JF's costume as the Frenchman to be best costume. No prizes for him, so we went back to the laboratories with Marty and his team and have come up with a new one. After multiple experiments and vigorous scientific testing, we came up "best hairdo contest". We want to see your best haircuts, and will post the winning hairdo on the now world famous whiteout blog. Speaking of haircuts, I took a 200 hundred dollar haircut at the bar last night welcoming Paavo and EEro back to town at Colin Adair's beenie and scarf party. Back to the contest, the sweetest haircut will win a copy of Wear It Well, aswell as a copy of The Big Blind, and some sweet Helly Hansen gear. You can email submissions to contact@whiteout-films.com. We'll get you motivated with a sweet shot of Eero and his awesome party hair!

Thought I would do a little educational blog today since I hung out with Marty all day. We were up for the opening of Blackcomb and boy oh boy, Marty is riding stronger than ever. Once he clicks into those bindings...he's gone. Most of the whiteout riders were up in Whistler shredding some of the best conditions we all have ever seen up there. Anthony was up there with the "legends of snowboarding" crew, you'll see who I am talking about on a later post. Anyways, today's blog is going to look at what pretty much everyday of filming in the backcountry starts out looking like.
-First up,you set a meeting time, and no matter where you meet up some things never change. Anthony is always the first one there, and 99% of the time is smoking a cig and drinking a coffee. Kale on the other hand is always the last one to show up, most likely due to his truck breaking down on his way up from Squamish or just straight up sleeping in. Last year during one shoot he even forgot his shred pants, and ended up launching some cliffs in some grey sweatpants. Awesome.
-Next, everyone pulls into a small unloading zone and parks however they see fit. As it fills up, parking gets sketchier and trucks get closer and closer together. As you can see, Mikey and EEro try to make sure everyone parks in an orderly fashion. Sometimes they are successful, and often they are not even close.
It should also be noted that every time we meet up to hit up the backcountry, there are a few more common facts besides Anthony being the first to show and Kale being the last.
Fact- Mikey and Eero buy all of the Cajun Beef Rolls from the Husky Station.
Fact- Even if Trev has been to the spot a few times before, he is convinced that it is his first time there.
Fact- Tadashi speaks less and less English each time we meet up.
Fact- JF still has those crazy chops on his face.
Fact- Paavo has an amazing Techno CD pumping in his truck, and Benji and Reno are probably dancing to it.
Fact- Kale has most likely packed a block of cheese for his lunch.
Fact- Jaakko will still not be pleased with us calling him Orlando Bloom.
Special thanks to Marty for these facts!

Whether it is on the hill, in the water, or dressed up like a bunch of Frenchmen on the dance floor at Garf's, the riders that film with Whiteout are always shredding it up. It's pretty cool that the crew of riders are all really good friends with one another, and not just a crew randomly put together that have to hang out. I swear I talk to all these guys on a daily basis just to make sure I don't put up anything too inappropriate on the blog. I have some pretty unclassy stuff of Mr Pelchat. Anyways, here are a couple of shredding shots from our enormous digital photography archive sent via satellite via the world wide web. The first one is EEro ripping it up at Trestles down in So Cal, and the second one is a sweet handplant by Benji (Bruce) at our Copper Mountain shoot back in May. The last photo is the all of the shredders(Renczy,Eero,Bruce,Reno B, Matt and J-man) chillidoggin' after the park Session down in Colorado. Thanks again to Copper for hookin' it up. Peace!

Here is another dude new to the Whiteout Crew last year that we are super hyped to work with in 07. Trev is definitely all over the place these days, one day up sledding deep in the backcountry doing cab 9's over perfect jump, and the next making moves in the music world with his CTG records label down in NYC. Trevor actually splits his time living in both Brooklyn and Squamish, two totally different cities but same mean streets. Trevor aka Trza aka Trouble, started up CTG records which has some sick artists like JOFO under their label. Trevor's songs have been a part of Whiteout movies for a couple of years now, with Trev singing EEro's song in The Big Blind and then him singing his new song for his own section in this year's Wear It Well.
Trev is also pretty entertaining in the backcountry, and as most riders become more experienced the more they go out, Trev seems like its his first time out each time. He just learned how to load his own snowmobile this year, but still has someone (usually Anthony) do it for him most of the time. He also can't remember where any of the snowmobile spots are in Whistler even if we went to them the previous day, which happened this year at the Hurley Road gap. Before this year, Devun was the only one to have even stepped up to the big road gap, and he tripped out when he heard that Trev backside 180ed it. You can check out all the road gap action in our dvd extras where lil Auch built one that specifically looks at the road jumps. As for Trev, you can see more of him and learn more about his music and shredding at myspace.com/trevorandrewakatrouble. Trevor is sponsored by Burton, Gravis, Analog, Oakley, CTG Records and Mapquest.

Last Year, a girl told Benji that he is the Bruce Willis of snowboarding. We consulted with Marty and our other scientists to figure out what this bold statement meant, and concluded that Benji is simply awesome, like Bruce in all of the Die Hard movies. Benji has been filming with Whiteout for a couple of years and can shred it up in the backcountry like a maniac. The crazy thing about Benji is that he loves shredding, but definitely has tons of other stuff going on in his life and is always out of whistler any chance he gets. This past fall, he made surf trips to Tavarua and Mexico and dropped in on his biggest waves yet. Also, since he is the unofficial King of Mount Tremblant where he grew up, he is often back there every fall for hunting season. The picture's below show off that Benji is a real man, just like Bruce Willis, so it turns that stripper's statement was dead on. The first photo is with a prized buck, and our scientist Marty has confirmed that it is indeed a male deer. The second one is Benji with his brother Manu and William, and a bunch of dead ducks. Seeing these photos of duck gets me thinking about one of our favorite late night spots Tsu Hang Village, where they serve a great BBQ'ed duck. Yumcity!! Anyways, Benji will be back in Whistler here shortly to shred up some early season pillows and pow. Benji shreds for Rossignol Snowboards, 32 Boots, Etnies, Billabong, Dakine, Empire Antipasto Restaurant in St Jovite, Greygoose Vodka and Motts Clamato Juice.

Head Scientist at Whiteout Films Since I have started updating the blog, everyone is constantly asking about the many scientific references I make about our panel of scientists that we have here at Whiteout Films. They want to know if this is indeed true and if so, how they know so many snowboarding facts and if they too actually snowboard. So, today's blog is set out to answer all of these questions and to leave your doubts behind. Here is our head scientist, Marty Sampson. Marty has a PHD in Environmental Physics from U of W (University of Whistler) As you can see, he loves the shredding but still keeps it classy at all times. First of all ,notice Marty's collared shirt, properly buttoning it right to the top. You can rarely catch Marty without this look, whether he is in the lab or on the slopes. Marty is also always down to help out with second angles during film shoots, so you'll rarely see him without his trusty camcorder. Next, check out Marty's scientifically engineered all-weather pants. These pants are good in absolutely all types of weather, from rain to sun to hail to heavy snow, and classy at the same time. Marty actually invented these pants, in our laboratories I might ad. Last but not least, like any good scientist, Marty is a big fan of safety. As you can see, he has his safety leash firmly fastened and frowns upon any shredder he sees without one. We always razz Marty to get new bindings, but he swears by the 1.8 seconds he takes to get clicked in compared to the rest of us and our 4.2 seconds it takes us to strap in. Marty has stats and facts for everything, so look forward to many more scientific facts to come from our team.

Here are a few rare Scientific facts about Mikey, thanks again to our full-time panel of scientists here at Whiteout.
Fact- This was the first year Renczy filmed with Whiteout Films, and all of his sweet shred moves earned him closing part.
Fact-Although he didn't drive right across the country like his buddy J-Bone, Mikey has been traveling across Canada almost every week this fall. He has been back and forth to both Toronto and Montreal twice each for the Whiteout premieres and for the Burton World Tour.
Fact- Mikey almost died of hypothermia as he had to take his dad's scooter in for repairs a couple of weeks ago up in Canmore. The weather moved in on him and froze him solid. An hour long hot shower and a double blanket wrap for a whole season viewing of the Office and he was on the road to recovery.
Fact- Although Mikey was the star of the Whiteout Cocktail Party in his white suit, he is still single.
Fact-As you can see in the below photo, sent via satellite, Mikey loves long bike rides and beautiful sunsets. He is just a classy guy,but also has not washed his hair in 34 days.
Fact-Mikey is sponsored by Burton, Gravis, Electric,Solo Mobile,Red Bull, Wildcats,The Circle and the Husky Station(Hey Ted!)

With Baker opening up tomorrow and Whistler on Saturday, we ended up having a pre-season cocktail party to get things rolling as we get into another season. We decided to have the party at Kale's new place, and decided to go all out as filming will be starting any day now and partytime will be slowing down. We kept things pretty formal and classy and the ladies definitely showed up in full force. The first photo was taken at the beginning of the party, just as the first bottles of Chardonnay were uncorked. The next one was a couple hours later, and as you can see the girl on the far right was asked to leave for being way too tanned. She was also drinking straight out of the bottle, which was one of the unclassiest moves we all had ever seen! Renczy wore his white suit/white Red Bull hat from his Snowboard Canada interview, and EEro showed up in the Wear It Well suit from this year's video and both held it down as the classiest shredders at the party. JF on the other hand was told to leave at about the same time as the tanned chick for tearing off his own shirt and wearing his tie on the forehead. More photos coming soon, and a big thanks to Wolf Blass wines and Coca Cola for providing the refreshments! A second party is already being planned for New Years Eve, so stay posted to win an invite to it.

After being arrested for being awesome over a dozen times, Paavo still has not learned his lesson. As you can tell from the photos, Paavo is all about Euro "easy style" and chillidoggin'. He has been down in Cali for a couple of months with all the other Finns golfing and surfing it up, and should be back at his new home in Whistler for the season. Paavo started filming with Whiteout for our first movie Positron, and has had parts in Big Blind and this Year's Wear It Well. If you get a chance, check out his backside rodeo-guineapig air over the Whistler park jump in Positron, it rules! Traveling with P-man is pretty sweet, especially in Europe as Paavo can speak perfect English, perfect French, Finnish, and some German and Sweden so no matter where you are you are covered. He always has the best techno music pumping and has travelled so much over the years can take you to the best restaurants, bars or mountains no matter where you are. The old Euro Rossignol trips used to get pretty hectic when JF, Richards, Benji, Tadashi, EEro and myself got into partytime, and Paavo would ususally win best partyer of the night. And the next day, it is a scientific fact that he can out-shred anyone, especially in a good park which is pretty crazy to watch. Check out his new Endeavor shred stick which is out now, P+E, and keep some extra blankets on your couch cause you never know who might be sleeping over!

First up, that contest that I posted last week regarding Halloween really hasn't worked out as good as I was hoping. I was planning to post some amazing submissions like our Frenchman costumes or a gang of crazy mexicans, but judging by the submissions we are far from a winner. Apparently a free Wear It Well DVD and your photo on the all-classy blog isn't as motivating as I thought, so Helly Hansen has helped out and thrown in a beanie and t-shirt for the best costume. You can email submissions to contact@whiteout-films.com, and don't be scared to submit the photos of your girlfriends dressed as classy nurses and cops. On another note, we had a little rider meeting last week with a few of the riders and our own panel of scientists that work full-time here at Whiteout Films and it seemed that the lack of new snow was indeed a problem. The riders were complaining that they actually needed snow to get started for this season so our scientists decided to go straight to work. After a few hours in our laboratories, which by the way are full of cylinders, beakers, tongs and bunsen burners, our scientists made it happen. Check out these photos from this weekend from Seymour and from the village in Whistler that were sent to us via Satellite. Get crackin' on sending in those Halloween photos and wax up your sticks for opening day. Peace!

EEro EEro has been with Whiteout for two years now and let me tell you, this guy is good stuff! He had closing part in The Big Blind last year and this year he had the opener in Wear It Well. EEro and I were 'mates on the Rossi team and I met him when he was only 14. He was a mini lil dude then that could do switch backside 9's off of the smallest jumps and snuck into the bars in Austria on the annual Rossignol European photo shoots. Over the past couple of years I've gotten to chill with Eero a bunch since he moved to Whistler and become a super sledder. He is always trying to buy my yellow summit 7(with stinger) from me because it is so damn fast but might just catch me this year on his new Rev he just bought. After filming was done this year for Wear It Well, Eero, Mikey, Anthony and myself went down to Hawaii together and we had a super sweet time. EEro and I golfed everyday, and then we also got some fishing and surfing in. So this post is dedicated to the leisurely life that EEro enjoys after a long shred season full of 5am wakeup calls, sleeping in bunk beds that are way too small, cold cajun beef rolls, lots of travel and nagging injuries, sore ears from my stinger, and huge jumps. We are super psyched to film with EEro every year and stoked the lil guy is coming back to Whistler soon.

Halloween contest! Halloween never gets old, and it looks like pretty much all the shreds from Wear It Well went crazy this year. This photo is from the Finns down in Cali, with Paavo,Iikka, Eddie and HEErold. Paavo has been hanging out in San Clemente with Eero and Iikka for the past couple of months, surfing it up and just chillidoggin. Eero just got back from a K2 shoot over in Europe and was last seen at Bed, Bath and Beyond buying new sheets and towels for 8 mile in Whistler and some BBQ parts for the Foreman Grill that got destroyed by a black bear last spring. 8 mile has been getting some good coverage lately, not only with a spot check in Snowboard Canada but also in the new transworld resort guide. The Finns should be coming back to whistler when it starts to snow, which looks like it might start coming down this weekend. Since it has been Halloween heavy on the blog, I am thinking the next Wear It Well movie giveaway should be based on your best Halloween costume, which you can email photos to contact@whiteout-films.com and our panel of riders and scientists( probably Dr. Rencz and Dr. Bonez) will review and send a winner out a DVD. (We are partial to Frenchmen costumes) Chris Miller from Edmonton won the last trivia contest on day one, so it is clear we have to come up with the better material over here. We'll also post your photo up on the blog,if it meets our Classy standards.

Tadashi (T-man) Tadashi is a shred ninja, and even though we film with him all year, he is pretty hard to keep track of. T-man is on his own program, and I thought for this blog I could give you a little info about the elusive T-man. First of all, Tadashi has his own filmer and we never really know what he is up to until we do the film transfers. It is pretty sweet watching the footage the first time because we have no idea what he is ever up to. Tadashi also shreds better with one foot strapped in than most do with both strapped in. His fs 360 indy one-foot got him the cover of Transworld issue 2, his first Transworld cover. I used to get to travel a bunch with Tadashi when we were on Rossi and I can confirm that he sure does love Beer, and every once in a while Tadashi can get a little crazy after some golden throat charmers. Tadashi is also a happily married man, and him and his wife speak barely speak any english and couldn't care less. The scientists here at Whiteout have basically come to one conclusion-- Tadashi Rules!. You can't argue that, it's science!

Kale Facts
Just
saw the new DVS ad of Kale doing his front 9 tail over perfect jump and
figured I'd give you a Kale update as it has been a while. Actually,
this will be the first one, and you will soon see that keeping track of
what he is up to is a hard thing to do. First up, Kale picked up a new
shop sponsor this month, The Source in Calgary. Those guys are super
cool and Kale is hyped to be on the team along with Devun. Kale and
Browner have been busy working on their Ninja mask company Airhole
aswell, with Kale doing lots of the actual designing. Should be out
soon. Next, Kale's song in this year's Wear It Well was hooked up since
Kale is actually good friends with Skyzoo. Also, our scientists here at
Whiteout have confirmed that Kale was a top 3 star of French Halloween,
and this picture just confirms these results.
