so obviously, early season riding always has a good story to go with it..and our trip to kicking horse didn't fall short of hilariously amazing! it really all starts thursday when i realise my friend Tim Elms is playing at the Drake...so carefully i plan my evening so that both The OC and Grey's Anatomy are also on the agenda. Going for a casual beer over some f*cking fantastic music soon turns into drunk raving at Zona's, followed by a wasted cab ride home and a rad cab driver who offers to drive my car home when he gets off shift! Thanks buddy! The clock reads 5:30 and I pass out, only to wake up to my fog horn of an alarm clock at 8:00...snooze every 10 minutes until 9:30 when my phone rings and I am questioned as to why I haven't arrived to our rendez vous point in Banff as planned..."give me 20..okay maybe 25" and I get my shi*t together..and off I go. Some legit riding goes down,;a concussion, dislocated shoulder re-injured..again and me putting my knee into my nose. Yes indeed a solid day, some retire early to nurse the wounds...I retire around 2:30 to drag my haggard body to work. In my fragile state I now have to endure hearing about how amazing the opening day at The Horse is going to be tomorrow, and I of course will be working..no pow for me! Except I was over it...I'd have to leaving the hill at 1:30 to make it back to work by 4. Enough time for some solid fresh lines, I mean with 180 cm at the top...who is going to deny me that??? By 11:30 that night, we realise that we have at least a couple more hours ahead of us before getting close to finishing. Diamonds and I figure we'll just leave tonight when we get off and go hard all the way through until tomorrows shift. I call Suze to inform her of the new plan; shes wasted, at a DJ Mama concert at work and planning a power nap on her office floor before we pick her up! Thats dedication my friends...thats dedication! So work raps up around 1:30, 3 stops later we have 3 people on their 2nd wind, coffee that tastes like ashtray and the clock now reads 3:30...we'll be right on time for the early morning madness in Golden. The drive is moderately treacherous, and the clock read 5:30 but the nap in the Tim Hortons parking lot, and the crack-coffee they sell made it all worthwhile! 7:15; potty break in Timmy's and off we go. Holy shi*t this place has diehards, by 7:30 the entire Kicking horse lodge is packed and their are line ups everywhere..gondola, tickets..everywhere. So, by the time we get to the top, we are more than ready to ride...the shredding itself gets the least airtime. Mostly due to the fact that it was simply EPIC, it got shralped fast but those few runs made it worth it! The snow was so deep and heavy that I felt like a beginner. I can ride pow, but let me tell you that shi*t kicked my ass...seriously! 1:30 rolls around and the fatigue coming from 4 hours of sleep since Thursday morning is kicking in, since it is nearly the end of Saturday...I delegate the driving to Diamonds and Suze and sleep the rest of the way home. Work crawled by, i contemplated shooting myself in the foot, but somehow my 10th wind kicked in and i pulled through. 6 feet of fresh snow will do strange things to a girl!
Happy shred!

the season crept up and after my first week on shred i am stoked for another season full of friends, fun and countless days of riding! this week was epic, full of fresh lines and deep pow, unlike any other opening week! ptarmigan and larch opened yesterday and surrounded by a wicked crew we ripped fresh larch bowl trees all morning, narrowly escaping patrol on our last go. can't wait to charge hard this year and get some days in with everyone. hope everyone is getting some sick riding in...take care!
PP holdin down!

well after a summer of shananigans, the sherwood house is boarded up, finished for the season, done like dinner! last night came through as we all knew it would. late afternoon drinking and delightful eats led to some serious expeditions to banff, the loss of multiple members of our party, 2 delightful disposable cameras, a lot of jagger and many friendly people offering us couches, beds, cars and even the occasional toothbrush. morning/mid-afternoon rendez vous for the majority, followed by sushi and temporary illness. still missing mike at 4:30, but not to worry, in a cab and home by 5. 24 hours later, we are all reunited and ready for round 2...maybe tomorrow, or by thursday for the skids premiere.
on a seperate note, i am now unemployed and have arrived at the dilemma of whether or not i get a job or ride out the EI train until boredom kills me. the future will tell but for now, the week is being taken off to do yoga, go hiking, biking and all other activities. a bientot

so the summer winds up and with that i will find myself unemployed and stoked for the winter. a road trip to the coast may be in order with some of the muchachas. we found ourselves with some snow a couple weeks ago. a forty party and evening jib satisfied the early season needs. my thumb is feeling slightly impaired since that night though so a trip to l'hopital is in my future. people gone to school, people arriving back from summer adventures, namely suze who i missed tremendously while she spent her summer surfing in tofino, but is back just in time. matt coming out for a visit and some early season hockey, also something to look forward too. but mostly excitied for snow, friends, laughs and good times! wishing everyone the same.
GATHERING AT THE SHERWOOD HOUSE ON SATURDAY THE 30TH...
CLOSING DOWN THE HOUSE
DJ SHORTY
HOURLY DRINK SPECIALS
$10 COVER
ALL SHOULD ATTEND, PROMISES TO BE A RIDICULOUS TIME
Also, Sunday Sherwood Staff Party, apres fete in Banff at the Magpie.

this whole "drink like its your job" situation could be detrimental to my health..and my spelling..
HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!
Hope everyone had a good long weekend. I was stoked to get Friday to Monday off and to take off for a couple days to go camping. We spent Canada Day biking at Pano...my first time downhilling and I had a super rad time...minus my flat tire on the last run. But still so much fun and can't wait to go back with the girls! We spent Saturday camping in Invermere out at Sunshine Ranch and found a wicked campsite way back in (a little dusty but a great view). We also happened to snake a view of the Fairmont fireworks. A little lounging on the beach on Sunday before coming home. Just chillin on the beach in the sun today! Have a great week guys and take care,
