Lutsen Mountains

I just spent my second weekend of the year at Lutsen ---good times!  As midwestern resorts go, this one is worth every penny of the lift ticket.  They are the first place I've visited in the midwest that doesn't immediately groom under new snow when it falls...leaving some nice soft snow for the first day after a snowfall.  The runs are long by comparison to other Minnesota hills - - - up to 1000' vertical.  Good variety of terrain and access to the woods and glades-something considered out of bounds at most other local spots.  My only bits of constructive critism for the resort would be that there is extremely limited public space to utilize for gearing up and the locker area is pretty undersized for the traffic they get.  Aside from the 4 passenger gondola all the lifts are two seaters resulting in some long lines on weekends - but I hear there are plans for at least one high speed quad coming soon.

ack run! only good thing about this barron waste land of a hill is Canada which is only 45 min. north.
