Cinderella
Like Cinderella she is in her bedroom looking for her glass slippers.
Slowly, lightly she applies her shimmering shadow to her blood shot eyes.
The music in the background drowns out her sorrow as she weeps,
Her mind already made up.
Her thoughts not to be changed.
She’s been through so much and her heart bleeds with pain.

All pretty and dressed she takes out her book, grabs the pen and
begins to write; writes words too painful for her eyes to read.
"Dear Mom and Dad..." that’s how it starts and ends with a kiss.
The music still playing, her thoughts the same,
Her mind already made up.
Her thoughts not to be changed.
She takes the glass and drinks away the pain.

One last prayer, for she can not wake -
peaceful and serene as a princess should be.
This is what we perceive life to be.
