My Letter to You
At night when all have gone to sleep,
I miss you and I -- how we used to be.
I miss the times you used to call
to just say "hey" or nothing at all.
What happened to the laugh filled nights?
We'd talk for hours; we'd never fight.
Our hearts would dance with hand in hand,
just king and queen, we ruled the land.
What was it that tore us apart?
I'd always trust you with my heart.
There was no reason for you to leave;
and still these nights, it's you I grieve.
At times I wish that you would call
to say you're sorry for it all.
I'm not sure what I would say;
you broke my heart, could I say "it's ok"?
I don't think of you intentionally.
It's when I don't think that you I see.
Don't think I want you on my mind;
the way you left was too unkind.
It's when I've slept for quite some while,
my busy mind drifts to your smile.
I'm sure you know just what I mean;
we've seen each other in my dreams.
I know that more than I miss you,
I hate the things you chose to do.
I know that though I miss your smile,
I wish you off my mind a while.
So, in my dreams don't visit me.
You made your choice, just let me be.
So, when you want to just say "hey",
think about your choice -- just stay away.
