About Me

I am the guitarist and lead singer of Distant 2nd.  A mix of NIN, Type O and Linkin Park. Go listen to understand. (myspace.com/distant2nd)

I ride on anything - ice, powder, park, pipe, dirt, midgets.

My riding style: 60% freeride 40% freestyle. Colorado ruined me to the east coast!

I am bored with jibbing, and think its overdone at most resorts. More wallrides and variable sized jumps please!

My stance:  +21 front, -12 back

Mountains I've rode at thus far:
Mountain Creek (home)
Stratton
Killington
Liberty
Windham
Hidden Valley
Blue Mountain (PA)
Sno Mountain
Bear Creek
Breckenridge
Keystone
Lady Jane (part of Winter Park)
Copper

Preferred resorts:
West- Copper
Northeast - Stratton
Local - Blue Mountain (PA)

Odd note: I rode my "beginner" board for 7 years, I still own this board and it is still ride-able. At 167cm, I use it for powder days and glades.

Snowboard related injuries: To date, I have separated my right shoulder, and dislocated my left elbow.

Miracle story: My first time in the glades at Stratton, I thought you were supposed to move fast through the glades, not cruise. Went too fast, speed checked, put my forehead right into a tree.  I only knew I was alive because I could hear my friends laughing at me.  My helmet saved my life. Giro makes solid helmets.

Life before snowboards: I learned to ski when I was 4 years old, did it for about 10 years. Picked up snowboarding about 9 years later, have not had a desire to  pick up skis ever since.

Snowboarding life: On average, I get between 25-35 days of snowboarding in per season. It would be more if the season lasted longer or if I didn't have to work.  Anyone out there want to pay all my bills for me so I can ride more often?

Words of Wisdom

Sh*t, if this is gonna be that kind of party, I'm gonna stick my d*ck in the mashed potatoes!

Exercise the 5th amendment - shut the f*ck up.

My Journal: Friday, September 19, 2008
Seems I hadnt updated since like march. My trip to Colorado was SIIICK.  I never did so much glade riding in my life. Crazy stuff. All the mountains had something to offer, though I think I enjoyed Copper the most. We were up on an ice bridge at the top of a mountain, and we took some off the beaten path/possibly out of bounds trail down. Lost my friend along the way, totally untracked stuff, not even snowmobile tracks around. I thought I was gonna end up popping out on the highway. I truly was alone, riding through glades and jumping over small creeks, lost in the wilderness, so I thought. BEst riding experience ever.

I did learn something about me though. I found that I truly am more of a freerider than a freestyle person.  I only do freestyle at Creek because that's ALL there is to do, and I don't even do that too often, due to icy conditions/crappy landings.

Anyhow, the new season approaches and I pretty much have all new gear from last season, though I'm probably going to swap out my freestyle deck with something stiffer, like a Skunk Ape or the such.

What's up Randy. Just wanted to get back to you about colorado. Looks like i'm not going to be able to make it. Like I told you before, i'm taking off christmas to go home to visit family. When I requested newyears week off, my boss told me I would have to find someone to replace my shift. I asked everyone. No one wants the shift. I have a couple people that haven't gotten back to me yet. But it's looking like i'm not going to be able to make it. BUMMER because i would really like to come. If for some reason this changes and someone wants to work for me, what is the absolute latest that i can let you know?

I might be able to do Colorado after all--I'll keep you posted. I've been watching my stocks like a hawk the past few weeks, and one of them is at the highest it's been in 3 years. Right now, I still think it's a little early to tell, but if I cash them in right away, I'll have over $8 grand!
