Words of Wisdom

mean people suck.

Worrying is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere.

Ride for yourself and no one else. If people make fun of you make fun of them. Nobody likes a wimp.

Whistler was great. I really came a long way as far as rails go. I was hitting things with ease by the end of the week that would have scared the crap out of me when I got there. You just have to take your chances, and get some experience behind you. Then it becomes really fun rather than scarey. Whistelr had tons of rails for any level. The place is huge, I can't wait to go back!
I have seen that wake physics book. It sounds like it sounds good from what I have heard of it. Wakeboardign season is in full effect here, and I am so sore from riding that I can barely move today.

Thanks for the comment. Wakeboarding is the best. That boat throws up a nasty wake :)

When you turn into a boardslide like that do you have to take it all the way to 180 or can you pull it back. Which is the best way for learning.
Good luck with the wakeboard spins, I'm headed to Whistler tomorrow so I won't be around for a week. But I can help you with wakeboarding more after that. I am actually a web developer and I have been toying with the idea of building a wakeboarding instructional site.

You don’t have to commit to the whole spin off the wake. If everything is good, then go ahead and start your spin. Once you decide to initiate it, commit all the way so you don’t catch an edge. Pull the handle in and through to your lower back. At the same time turn your hips. You want to keep your head up and look into the turn. Don’t look down! You also want to keep your handle in as close to your waist as possible all the way around. Practice the handle pass on land first. Good luck

Spinning on a wakeboard is a lot different than on a snowboard. On the snowboard from what I understand you roll onto the edge a little and unwind with your upper body. When you are on a wakeboard you have a rope to pull on. You want to initiate your spin with that rather than trying to turn off the wake. Get your pop the exact same way that you would for a regular jump, don’t change anything. Wait until you are up in the air, on 360’s and less you can even wait until after the peak of your jump. Take this time to do a quick assessment, make sure you are level and balanced. If it is not then just try to land a regular jump and try again….

Those are great tips. When moving on from a 50-50 do you turn the board in the air, or try to rotate while you are on the rail? Do you still ride straihg tonto it? How and where do you initiate the spin? What about the guys who ride beside the rail, and throw part of their board over to hit the rail. That seems less scary because you are never really over the rail.
