no offense gwr your not the only one who does this, but no way in hell
are they 20 foot gaps. If those are 20 foot gaps i've hit 50 foot gaps
(which i haven't but by your measurements, i can say i did), if those
are 20 what the hell is the jump thats usually at the end of kybher? it
makes me want to go up there and measure that shit for people. I saw
the same thing today on a post on the camelback website saying that one
of their jumps was a 60 footer last year. The biggest jump at camelback
was about a 15 footer last year. If you say 20 foot gap that means end
of hte lip to the knuckle, that couldn't have been more than 9 or 10
feet on either of them, the first is like 2 or 3 board lengths and the
second maybe a shade longer.
anyway, thats just something that makes me angry. when people exagerate
the size of stuff 1) its not accurate for people asking and 2) waters
down when people who actually can and did do a 20 foot jump or a 30 or
40 foot jump, and then poeple hitting 8 foot jumps can claim 20. I'd
say 8-10 on both tables. Imagine the last table on flying fox last
year, the small one, twice in a row in exhibition, its actually nice.
the lips are short and its great to warm up on. The box is either the
one that started out sugar last year, or one of the new 20 foot flat
boxes. I think its one of the new ones just becuase it felt a little
differant sliding it, but the ramps into the rails are nice this year.
They are wider than usual, it looks like they're using the full blade
width from the cat for both the rails and the jumps instead of just the
center part of the blade. The flat rail is the normal ride on flat rail
in exhibition (maybe 5-6" wide, 14 feet long?), i didn't hit it becuase
me and that rail have never gotten along, i'd personally rather hit the
40 footer than that thing becuase the landing is always rutted, but i
don't think it was setup ride on. The box was setup well, tiny gap and
no landing rut.
Overall the snow was sick for early december, i'd say its equal to
mid-february conditions (not icy january but not soft march or april,
and not spotty normal december), i honestly saw no grass popping
through like i usually do in the opening. All the trails on south that
have a good amount of snow on them are open, the others appear to have
nothing. There are some trails on bear with enough snow to open but no
grooming, and vernon has way more snow than i expected. The pipe
specifically has like a massive amount of snow, and the sugar jib park
has a lot too, i still stnad by my prediction that the sugar jib park
will be where the rome jibulation is - exhibition would require a
rework for it and I don't think they'll do it. Its either the sugar jib
or flying fox but you can't get sponsor tents and stuff up to flying
fox, i would bet sugar jib for exposure.
My 0.02 cents - i'm hoping its going to be a good year, i had a great first day.
