rippey, i hope youre joking about that video...overexposed, super slow mo pans of half-assed riding. Yeah, siiiiccckkkk duddddeeeee.

As far as the original question, it all comes down to what you like to ride. Any snowboarder who tries riding lines in the backcountry will tell you its a whole new level of actually being able to ride your snowboard--thats why it stokes me out seeing people push it that way...plus the fact i think it's the funnest part of snowboarding. But there are plenty of east coast rail videos out there if thats your thing, too, to give you inspiration to go jibbing. Snowboarding is diverse, thats part of what makes it great.

^^^ actually no. I liked it because watching the same rail, kicker, urban stuff without editing and effects is plain unbearable...I liked the artistic value of that kid's work. I wasn't claiming the riding was top-notch. I'd rather watch kids who still know how to have fun than 'pros' who take themselves as seriously as they do these days.

it takes perfect conditions to get a good backcountry shot

exactly! personally i appreciate the backcountry shots so much more because of the effort and skill that goes into it. so many things had to be just perfect that day in order to get that shot. especially when someone is going off natural terrain, and touching down on an untracked landing. you know that rider is good cause he nailed it on the first attempt.

people do jib sessions when the weather sucks, or they need filler for their part. and yes, the filmers love it because the footage is cheap and effortless to get. unless a jib line is really really different, interesting, or technical, its just mass produced filler. kinda like lettuce on a burger... it makes the burger look bigger, but it sure as hell aint beef!!!

Street riding is fun to watch if its progressive and/or creative. But plain boring front slides on an ever day rail is retarded. A lot of pro's feel like the cities they live in (salt lake, denver, boulder ect.) have already been played out. I can't imagine running out of Urban features to do if you know how to get creative. But im not a pro so i guess i don't know.
