haha.. To get into the habit of using PTT the other people in my group and I were using it for any breaks we had, about anything at all....  people thought we were mental... what a nice french fry, to make it taste better, add ketchup!

For sure we should totally ride, it's good to share skills and feedback...  my name is Constance btw.

Pleasure Constance.... i got a friend named Constance, but she hates being called that, she likes Dina for some reason lol

you have a nick name too or you use your full name?

Oh and the PTT i know, i was doing it all weekend too,

That is a sweet ride, to improve the shine add some wax :D

Thats a good cigarette, to improve on your breathing, cut back!  <--- i told that to some dude standing out side, i think he wanted to punch me lol

haha

but ya, you can give the PTT to anything, and practice it to anything :)

So your a Glen Edan local? you work there at the school?

Im going to go there sometime soon, but im leaving this saturday to go to tremblant :)
after that, ill def come to Edan to ride a couple times.... but i also have a 5X7 at blue.... so taking a hour or taking 3 hours, dosnt really matter to me, but we'll see :)

you ride blue much?

how long have u been a casi member? im just curious :)

Just thought id mention, you are able to go for a level 2 within the same season as your level 1. I even know a few people who got up to 3 in one season.
Overall if you are thinking about taking this course, do it, it isn't really hard and as long as you can make it down the hill with confidence the instructors will most likely do there best to help you out and get you by. For the most part Ive been told if you fail its because of one of two things, you REALLY arnt a stable rider, or you are an asshole lol

I think what you're saying is misleading because taking your level 1, 2, 3 isn't only about your riding abilities.  I also saw some people in my group who seemed like pretty good riders fail because their form was less than perfect, and others who failed because they weren't able to balance displaying a concern for safety, good demos, good speaking abilities as well as good observation/interpretation of their "students".

Maybe we had a tough evaluator!

That would be the asshole part I mentioned, should have went a bit broader on it I guess lol Maybe you did have a tough evaluator, but I know of more than one person who Id consider a weak rider that passed their level 1. Hell a guy I knew that passed started boarding 4 months before hand. Don't take it as me downgrading your achievements, thats not what I meant by that at all, and sorry if you took it that way. The course itself isn't a cake walk, but any accomplished rider should be able to do it with very little problem.
I am more saying this to encourage others who might be iffy on it to just go try it out then anything, a LOT of people think the course is only for riders who have been around 10+ years, and thats simply not the case.

Fair enough.  I'm sure there are people who slip through the cracks, I don't doubt it.  Not all evaluators are equal...  Mine was also a race coach and therefore REALLY discerning.

I understand you encouraging people to go out and try it and not be afraid... I just don't want people thinking it's something you can breeze through in stereotypical "snowboarder" fashion, without a care in the world...

I guess what I just wanted to stress is that if you are a solid rider and willing to put in the effort, your level 1 is definately attainable... if you think it's a walk in the park and you just have to show up, be prepared to fail.

yeah i passed my level 1 last year and i might go for level 2 this year, i am also a trained basic coach (coaches kids 8-14). I had trouble on the riding but after 3 days i rode like they wanted me to. The guy that gave me my level 1 is the same guy that taught me to snowboard 11 years ago, i think i made him feel a bit old. if any instructor is in New Brunswick pm me.

Just to clear things up here..The Level 1 isn't about how long you've been riding or how good of a rider you are, it is about how well you can detune your riding and bring it back down to the basics because at this level we are teaching begginers (I've failed people for not being able or willing to detune) and how well you can safely teach a begginer to snowboard(I've failed people for being unsafe and for not making any sence in there lessions). you can take your level 2 with no teaching exp but it would help if you have been teaching for at least one season, as for the level 2 riding you need to be a much stronger rider then the level 1 cause at this level you start teaching more advanced riders. for the level 3 you must have teaching exp, you can't do the course with out any!   Oh and also the pro deals are ony for level 2 and up.

would be nice to ride with other instructors :)
aka like yourself :)
hehe

thanks for the info... much apprishiated
will look into level 2 at blue in march, might or might not go... don't know yet.
but intentions are good :)

And the whole detune... i get that... dumb it down, but keep it simple. :)
the more info dump... the more confusing they'll be.....

i emphasize on the importent things... and show them in slow moh... with some drawings.. and i always like to ask them what they felt they did right... because this way they can identify by them selfs... its self teaching :)
Everytime i do it... i get someone that goes.... Ahh or ohh... lol its funny to hear when they realize things.... and its also good way to learn :)

Now for the pro deals... i bet your pulling my leg arn't ya :)

always helps :)

Pro deals are available to Level 1's as well, just not with certain suppliers.. ie. Burton.

The doll is to help you demonstrate to your students the positioning and motions that they are trying to achieve.. you use it as part of your explanation/demonstration.

Why would you get a CASI jacket unless you were core staff or an evaluator anyway?

well the instructor coats at my hill don't fit me even right now i am wearing the ski instructor jacket and i asked to put the casi patch on my personal jacket and my boss said only the jackets from the hill or casi or csia jackats are allowed when working. I can't even pay to get my own jacket from the hill. I would actually prefer a csf jacket to wear when i coach.

Ahh... well that sucks!  I can't imagine... all the uniforms we got this year are absolutely massive.  My pants fall off unless I wear a belt and fold them over at the waist..

so now im trying to get a XXL....

why does it have to be so ski specific, their jackets are so short and crapola lol

Awesome!  Glad to hear!

Working 2 jobs has been interesting.. I barely have time to eat some nights and feel like I have no social life, aside from work itself..  which hasn't really bothered me at all, oddly enough.
