well i applied and interview for full time...so we'll see...should know around monday-tuesday

anyways, with my old job...to make a long story short cuz i think i may have told it before, not sure. there was an investigation going on about our store manager...a very stupid investigation if you ask me, but whatever. so he got canned...then the hardgoods manager got canned for doing something very stupid...then i was left as the only manager in the store for almost 3 weeks, during back to school. i was working 60-70hrs a week and running ragged. so our head cashier got mad at me about something completely unrelated and i freaked on her, was under too much stress to deal with the bs she was coming at me with and the bs that was going on in the store...so i just freaked...not just on her, but in general. so she called LP and told them a lie and within hours, i was out of a job...no questions asked...they believed her over me. Nothing i can do about it now, they had to pay me out, so i have money for a little while...just need something to get by...

Its snowing? Okay, Im totally going to heavily consider a whistler trip this year. And you ARE an awesome teacher. Better off challenging the kids than just doing the bare minimum. benefits everyone.

And laura, that totaly blows. I recall you mentioning some issues at work, but I dont think we ever heard the story before. I wish you all the best with finding a job, and if you manage something at GE, it just means more awesome people in that small place.

but yeah it'd be cool to work at GE for the winter...get some free riding in and stuff. i have a couple opportunities on the side too where i can make cash under the table and stash some money away and stuff.

depending on how things go, i was thinking of possibly going back to school for a year and get my marketing management certificate or something...we'll see though. kinda hard to stomach 14k for school on top of car payments and insurance and gas and stuff like that....well see!

Speaking of boots. I was installing some bindings on my Prior AMF last week and needed boots to a) center them, and b) set up the straps. So I wore my new Ions while I was doing it. Well there are no worries about them being too soft, I'm definitely going to have to break those bad boys in. My feet were numb after a couple hours. Makes me think I want to wear my mega soft Rulers when I go to Mt. Washington. Not sure I want to be hiking for 2 days with mega stiff boots. On the other hand, it might be a good opportunity to break them in.

I think I like saying mega lately. Like I'm mega pissed that it's going to be like 12 degrees tomorrow. Stop teasing my Ullr!!! Gotta start making sacrifices...

i'm not quite sure yet....i paid 160 for them brand new and only wore them about 5 times, maybe 6 and then i switched back to my Vela's cuz they fit better. so maybe around 100ish? what do you think?

Hey Alex, you're a plumber, right? Can you think of any reason we'd have no hot water in our condo.. well I can think of one, but I'm hoping there's one that doesn't involve them ripping things apart..

When we turn on the cold water, it gets hot.. it starts cold, but I think that's just from the water sitting in the pipes (like how when you turn on the hot water, that's cold too). I tried turning off the hot water under the sink and the cold water was STILL hot. The topper of our toilet tank is wet because of the steam, and Matt's "cold" laundry cycle came out piping hot!

So my thinking is that they connected our cold supply to the hot pipes.. which would really suck. Do you know if that connection usually happens in the unit or out? We've only met one other couple who has a place here, but they don't actually live here yet so didn't know if they had the same problem.. so we're not sure if it's just our unit or the entire building...

It really sucks because now we can't even shower here (I managed this morning because I guess there was enough in the pipes for me to not burn to death - last night was the first night we slept here, so we just discovered this today).. and of course we had to find out on a Sunday when NO ONE is around.. they're supposed to have a 24 hour service thing, but apparently that's not ready yet.. because, you know, when you move into a brand new buildings, there aren't ever going to be any little weird problems.. nope, never ever.

The only thing that got laid today was my ass on a box. It hurt, and it happened twice. Ive concluded that snowboarding in +17 degrees weather is just sticky and slow and shitty.

Alison, is your condo in a highrise building or is it it's own little 'house' (as in not a highrise/lowrise building). From what I gather, both the hot and cold are hot, right? Meaning they both burn ya, meaning it's no fun. If the shower, toilet, and laundry are all messed up, assuming it's a highrise/lowrise, then I would say it's a damn good chance that it's the building, or at least your line in the building. I would check the people above and below you on any floor to see if they have the same problem.

Furthermore, what's the building called? (if it is a building that is), there is a chance it was my company.


And carrie, that's kinda awesome that Im in your dreams now, I'm super happy you think of me right up there with marco kendra and mikey.

It's a highrise.. well I actually don't know how many floors makes it a high vs. low, but our tower is 15 floors (the other one's like 29 or something). We're getting them to look into it today - the plumber is determined that we're just too retarded to know how to put the tap to cold, so hopefully he doesn't just turn the tap on for one second and be like "it's cold, problem solved" without giving it a chance to heat up.. he kept saying either there's no problem (which there is), or it's a HUGE problem.. haha nice

And the building is Vu by Aspen Ridge. It's their first residential high rise. And you can tell. They WANT it to be all classy and perfect, but it's really not. There was paint and glue EVERYWHERE. Like they didn't even try to not get it everywhere... there was paint on surfaces that aren't even close to any walls! But there you go. Hopefully after this water gets fixed we'll only have small problems (or like, none at all.. that would be nice)

Yeah, there is talk about a Jay road trip on the weekend of the 21st, but obviously if they don't open, that's not gonna happen. They were hoping to have been open this weekend but then it got warm. I think at this point, the only possibility would be Killington or Mt. Snow. Mt. Snow is pretty far and, as I understand it, not so great. Killington is also far but at least has the Stash (although it will probably not be open) and more terrain. Season getting pushed back again... bullocks!

On the other hand, Cascades is hoping to be open on Nov. 21st. After the lame weather we've been having though, I have some serious doubts.

Carrie: Don't you remember? That actually happened! I spent the whole night making "say no to crack" jokes while mooning your friend. It was EPIC!!

Alison: That is one of the more bizarre new home stories I have ever heard. Hope they find the solution because only having hot water makes David Suzuki sad.

Mike: I've done that with a project before in grad school. My partner was useless and I almost punched him in the face on several occasions. It's weak sauce but at least you got your paper done.

Alex: Yes I'll be on Tuckerman's ravine for the course (which is based out of Pinkham Notch). Apparently we get to ride but I don't know how much. Although one run at Tux is usually memorable enough to make it worth the trip. Not to mention AIARE-1 certification... booyah!

Is november 21st more or less the only roadtrip weekend that works for everyone? Just trying to gather some info to sort out my stuff. If you guys are going, Im coming. I need to hit a hill asap, and to do it with my favorite people would be awesome.

And FOR THE GOOD NEWS. I'm cleared to snowboard this season by my surgeon. I was all scared thinking he was gonna tell me I messed up my knee again and would need another surgery and no snowboarding, but it was as simple as having an xray, having him look at the xray, and then a quick pass at my knee. Apparently it was the best thing he had seen all day. Had a laugh as he has to explain my 'memorable case' to all his students/apprentices/understudies. And they had a good chuckle too when I jumped for joy and hugged the guy for saying I'm good to go.

Alison, that's most likely not us then. I dont know the difference between it either to be honest. But again, if you can, check the people above or below you. You guys should all be off the same riser, and they would have to be real idiots to cross it in just one suite. Hope they can sort it out, and if you get the chance, find out who the plumbing company is for me. I'm with 'university plumbing' (would be odd if it was my company, but they wouldnt know me, we have a million employees).

Carrie, Im super jealous. Im throwing money to the side as we speak. $60 just went into my whistler fund.

Alison, that sucks about your water.. i really hope it gets sorted out soon!  As for me, going on day 16 without a fridge.  :( At least it,s cold enough outside to keep Pegg's beer cold!

So they apparently think they fixed it, but I don't know.. so apparently it's that the water comes from the roof so since there's not really anyone living here yet, it's not really getting pulled down, so we have to let our water run for a long time before it can get back to cold.. which doesn't really make much sense to me, but that's what they say. They said they were going to keep the cold water running in the customer service centre (which is in the floor below us), so that the cold water will be being pulled down through the pipes (until more people above us move in.. which should make it a non-issue apparently). Only problem is that when I got home, I turned on the cold water to make sure.. they'd told us they ran our water for 20 mins and it stayed cold. I ran it.. it was cold for about 4-5 mins (which is longer than it had stayed cold for before at least), and then got hot, then went back to warm.. it at least didn't stay on hot so we should be able to shower, but still.. no cold. So not cool. Hopefully they just forgot to leave the water on or something and we'll have cold again. And hopefully we don't go to shower in the morning and find out that it's all hot again! We'll see..

Alex, do you know anything about the water coming from above and that being why it's hot? Thanks for your input so far.. it's been helpful!

And if I see the plumbing dude, I'll ask! Or I'll look for your company's name in the customer care centre next time we're there.. they have a bunch of pre-filled forms for vendors down there.
