i can understand why so many people hate america. but i can also understand that as a kid, everybody hated the principals at school, but even though he was an ass, he was the one that stopped all of the chaos. personally i think that america is a fucking rad country, and if you don't like it, then get off the planet because america doesn't just buy off the entire world, it buys what it can and then the rest of it sells itself to us.
Oh geez, i think somebody needs to read some General Smedley Butler
i can see how we look like the guy with the biggest gun trying to play government dominant, but in all honesty, we're just a hard working country that knows how to bargain and not take shit.
If by 'bargain' you mean invade other countries when they elect people the US government doesn't like, and prop up military dictatorships they do like, then yeah, i agree. As for 'not taking shit', you are totally on point. One of the only problems is, because the US has the largest military in history, and spends more than the next few biggest countries together, it can afford to not take shit. Countries that don't wantt o take the US's shit have a problem.
if you're so worried about how the world is going, i think it's stupid to bitch about it and say that it's only america's fault. i think it's fair to say that sweden isn't running to all the poor people's aid.
Sweden likes to think that it is a force of good, with IKEA and passively heated homes. But they also have a huge arms trade.
However to be honest, Sweden probably gives more of its GNP to aid than the US.
as for why we're not sharing the wealth. why should we?
do you really need it spelt out for you? As if being a greedy fuck were something to aspire to?
so that there can be an international welfare system raising cattle that knows nothing but how to leach off of a system. i'm sure that it would lead to a prosperous generation full of economic leaches who don't know what to do without the big powerful americans giving them cherity.
Ah, you must have seen the movie "The Corporation"! I think we can afford to help poorer countries educate themselves, instead of helping multinationals get richer.
as for why we haven't cured all of the worlds diseases, anybody who thinks that america should attempt such a thing is a moron. there always have been diseases and always shall be. you can cure a person or two, but if we have a world that promotes curing EVERYTHING they have, then we will never evolve.
I dunno about trying to save the world by curing diseases, when your average American is hardly the picture of a fit human being, but for example, we could be a little more lax in allowing poorer countries (like the ones suffering from AIDS epeidemics in Africa) access to birth control and drugs that are patented in the States,, that are forbidden to be made cheaply and save thousands of lives because it might affect some assholes profit margins.
OH, let's not forget to mention that diseases can form immunities to antibiotics. by trying to cure everything nature swings our way, you're engineering new, more deadly diseases that will devistate even more than the poor countries. don't fuck with the subject of biology, i will kick your ass at THAT and snowboarding ability has no fucking thing to do with it.
Then what should we do with evolving diseases? Avian flu? BSE?
sure thinking about how great it would be if the almighty USA would come to the rescue of the entire world. however, i think that the rest of the world would be better off being self-sufficient.
i totally agree with you here. Unfortunately, its a little hard to do with a little thing called the WTO. Countries that do try to go their own way, like Cuba, are punished.
still think america is horrible? .
No. But it could be a fuck of a lot better
then fuck you, when was the last time you made a donation you smug prick.
don't ask
somebody used a quote in here earlier, so now i'll use one that i believe: he with the gold, makes the rules. is america selfish? yes. but i think that's just because in (?) general are selfish.
I assume you meant to say "Americans". Yeah, people are selfish. But many are now starting to understand that nooone stands alone, and acting in each other's best interest is in our own best interest. Isreal won't be safe until Palestinians feel safe, and likewise. And as you might have heard, we can't survive on this planet without some amount of nature intact to keep air circulating, the temperature regulated, and solar radiation from frying our asses.
we have some bad polititians, but when was the last time you saw a good polititian in the news? also ask yourself this, when was the last time a good politiatian was news-worthy?
relax here, i think you are trying to make a connection between all the coverage of bad shit in the States, and the perception of bad shit. Fact is, us Americans keep trying to "spread democracy" when we can't even get it to function properly ourselves. If you have ever lived for a time in another country with a different view of the States, you can kind of see how ridiculous we look.
the next time you say america's decisions suck, think about what the results are going to be in long term. what could seem like a little good could create a horrible weakness, and what could seem horrible, could be neccesary discipline.
I have, and i cry myself to sleep.
i know that I'M sick of hearing everybody saying "fuck america" and "americans are so dumb" but if you're about to insult MY country with mother fucking statements that have handed down from some fucking comunist, then you better have your shit backed up because i will correct you because, to me, this is THE greatest country to live in.
actually, the word "communist" is pretty passe right now. If you want to be hip, you have to slang shit like "islamofascist".
In the words of KRS-One "America is a great place to live\ But check out the knowledge i give"
