Okay I just bought myself my first snowboard setup. I'm a 'beginner', so thats what kind of equipment I intended to buy.

Salomon Lotus 142 Snowboard
Salomon Grace Bindings
Salomon Dawn Boots

I wasn't focused on buying salomon only, but I was definitely dedicated on buying stuff on sale, and those stuff happened to be on sale and had the best deals for its performance.
I get to try it out on Feb. 18 at Bear Valley, Cali.

Sorry, you're going to have to elaborate on that. What makes the first set-up "suck"?

I'm a newb, so I probably didn't get the best stuff, but I got it all for $400 so I'm pleased.

03 Sims Mystique (new not used)
Thirty Two Niu Boa
5150 Empress bindings

As a side note.. has anyone every shopped at http://www.the-house.com before? I got the stuff there and I thought the deals were pretty excellent (even if the boards old). Got 30 days to return the boots and bindings if they don't work out and then I'll hit up like REI or Ski Market and do it in person. But if they do work..then yay..no feeling like a moron newb talking to the smartie pants at the stores. :)
My articulateness makes me sound even more stupider.

sweet, yeah I can't wait till i get to shredd on my new board

So have you tried it out yet?  I just rode my Solution for the 2nd time today and absolutely love it!  It's last year's 158, but it's the exact same as this year's.  Anyway, it's such a fun board... and alot faster than I expected.  Great for all mountain riding, and soft enough to take in the park if you want.  Let me know how you like your's after you get to take it out.

this year's board: 07 rome machine 154... hands down the most fun deck i've ridden in a while... makes my old dom 159 feel like dead wood... so easy to butter and has loads of pop; the camber height is insane on this thing... super easy to ollie, nollie, press, shiftie, and spin... a little unstable at speed but that's to be expected

this year's binding: 07 burton cartel in green... fits and rides exactly the same as my cartel OLS's from 05; and that's to say, they're reliable and perform well... looks exactly the same as the 05's too... but the apple green tastes delicious... finally bought a pair of burton boots to go with the burton bindings, and i've gotta say (though i was skeptical) it makes a difference... they seem to fit each other like a hand to a glove

this year's boot: 07 burton shaun whites in brown... by far the most comfy boot i've owned and i've owned a few... hardly any break in time at all; you can wear these things all day without begging them to be loosened... liners are way more comfy than the 32 lashed's and forum's i've owned... light, cushy, soft, just a great all around boot to mellow out in the park with
YEAH RIGHT!

Started boarding last year using a K2 Fuse Wide with burton custom bindings and K2 boots.
This year I have a Never Summer T5 163 with Flow Nxt Bindings and Vans Fargo boa boots.
I really love the new setup!!!

'07 Rome Anthem 154: Love this thing! This board seriously makes me want to abuse it. I do 75%/25% freeride/freestyle ratio. Stable as hell on ripper runs, and poppy enough on kickers/half etc. I really am in love. -- '07 Ride SPI's: First shot at using ride bindings. I've read negatives on these and I have to say I really really like them. I like a stiffer binding and these suit me just fine. Stable and supportive. The ratchets sometimes stick when releasing, but no biggie. I'll probably keep these for next season. -- '07 Burton Hail: Okay, so I bough last years Burton Freestyle boots. I hated them. I was in a financial pinch and was riding out of town. It was either buy boots and ride, or don't buy boots and don't ride. I bought them and I didn't like them. This year I was trying boots on and for whatever reason I decided I actually liked these... I figured after about 15 times out I would have regretted the decision. It's been about 25 days of riding so far and I'm happy as a pig in sh-t with these. Comfy and war. I like them and I'd probably buy another pair should I need to. I do however use an insert/arch support. It makes a big difference - without the support in them, i have a problem with a loose heel. --- so that's it. All in all i'm happy with everything - especially the board.
