Hola Senors & Senoritas!
Things have started to slow down in Whistler and it is full on spring
time... but not very sunny, so i took off to Cabo, Mexico! My friends
were heading down there for their graduation trip from university and
somehow i got to go? (I have not graduated) We spent 10 days down
there and went surfing, partied at Squid Roe lots, Drank many
cerveza's, and ate lots of tacos! After this little vacation i flew
from Cabo to Reno and Paavo & Kale picked me up in a white mini van
and we drove to Superpark at Mammoth Lakes to shred for 5 days. It
was a bit of a shock to go from sand to snow but after a day I was
ready to board the slopes and we had a blast! I saw logan there... he
drove down and hurt his ankle again so he was just limping around
talking shi*t, but it was good to run into him cause its been a while.
well now im home in vancouver and the weather sucks again... surprise!

Glacier Snowboard Camp is setting up to have its best year
ever.
There is so much snow still left in Whistler it’s crazy. The
temperatures have been so low and it just hasn’t let the snow melt. There is
still over 230 cm or 91 inches of snow at mid mountain and way more on the
glacier.
So that means more snow to make jumps this summer.
We are taking fewer campers than ever and expanding our terrain to include a park on the T-bar lap. So you can take
multiple jumps and/or rails in a row without ever having to hike (unless you
want to). We are so excited about
having such a bigger park than we have had in the past.
We take fewer campers than anyone and that directly
translates to more coaching and personal attention. You are not just a number with us. You are a friend
who has entrusted us to coach you to snowboard better and to show you a great
time. We take that responsibility very serious.
If you want to snowboard better or just want to have the
best time ever then Glacier Snowboard Camp is where you want to be.
Seriously.
Check out the website for all the information or give us a
call at 604-935-7776.

Magic Kales stump back mountain
Kale
just got back from nearly a week at Super park with Jbone & Paavo
filming for both Airhole and 8mile. On the first day he slide back
first over a huge stump located in one of the landings just barely
missing his spine. It put him out for a couple days but he still
managed to get a couple tricks on the last day of his trip.
Instead
of flying directly back to Vancouver Kale stopped over in Vegas to hang
with his man Chris Angel, the latest addition to Airhole squad.
According to Kale they're working on a new "sexy magic theme" for the
09/10 line of Ninja masks. When asked about their insta-relationship
Angel quickly breaks it down for us "Kale blows minds boarding they
same way I blow minds with my magic. We're both at the top of our game
so it cool just vibing off each other, the energy's wild. You're gonna
see this energy unfold first hand through my new "extreme" blend of
Chris Angel magic which I'll be showcasing in the Airhole movie out
this fall. Hopefully I'm as big of an inspiration to Kale as he has
been to me. Who knows, you may even see a magic trick or two in Kales
part??".

Our friend Cherie Carswell (who happens to be a designer over at Westbeach) emailed us last week saying that she was going to this "crazy tranny show" that we had to check out. And since we're not the type to back down from anything weird and unusual we said shi*t YES! We had our interns do a little research and found out that it was non other the world renown transvestite Amada Lepore wich according to Soap box prophet (wich we religiously acknowledge) is "the tranny to top all trannies" (ok?) and she would be playing at some bar called the Biltmore. Playing...we don't know what but it sounded freaky and crazy and dammit we wanted in. Instantly we dropped the mounds of paper work, html-codeing and all sorts of other technical internet workings that we do here at gnarcore.com and called gnarcoraspondent and cultural documenter DAVID ROULEAU who happen to already be in Vancouver. View the Gallery to see how his night went.

Saturday, May 3rd marked a momentous occasion for the Sandbox crew and for our new film, 'ALL DAY EVERYDAY'. We finally had our first bad ass helicopter shoot. The Whistler/Blackcomb marketing team, along with the park staff put together one of the best sunset film shoots ever done in Whistler. The jump was perfect and the riders had a lot of time to warm up and get it dialed while the sun dropped below the clouds. We called in the heli and got Clayton and Hockenstein suited up in their harnesses ready to hang out of the doorless chopper. Clayton had never even been in a helicopter before and now he was hanging out of one. By the time the riders, filmers and the pilot got their timing right, the sunset was perfect. The pressure was definitely on and everyone stepped up to the challenge. The pilot got the chopper really low and tight to the riders, Clayton's shots were smooth and the riders stomped 900's and 1080's as the sunset lit up the sky. After waiting anxiously through three days of bad weather and all the work and effort to build and maintain the jump, it all came together in a fast paced, two hour session of flying, filming and riding. Wish you could have been there to see and feel the energy of it all. Can't wait for everyone to see the shots in the new film. Special thanks to everyone who helped make this shoot such a huge success.
Thanks so much. Heli shoot photos by: Brian Hockenstein

Mt. Baker, WA – You thought it was over? Think again. With several feet of fresh these last few weeks, lifts running well into May, no crowds, full snowpack, and tons of daylight, frequency TSJ #6.3 drops just in time for those who ride beyond December. From Snowbird to A-Basin, to Whistler, to Tuckerman’s to Alpental: snowboarding continues in full force, and South America/New Zealand deep pow sessions are just around the corner.
With the stellar photography and strong writing that frequency TSJ readers have grown to expect, #6.3 features an amazing piece with freestyle legend Jeff Brushie by one of Snowboarder’s former editors Joel Muzzey, as well as photos from Bud Fawcett, Trevor Graves and others. From humble beginnings in New England to practically writing the book on modern halfpipe riding, Brushie reflects on his career, accomplishments and future. Senior Editor Colin Wiseman takes on the issue of snowboarding’s cost barriers and accessibility with a compelling case for municipal snowboard parks a la skateboard parks. With a lot of kids in snow-bound cities who can’t get afford $80 tickets, is it time we bring the hill to them? Mammoth native son and wunderkind Eric Jackson sits down with Senior Editor John Laing to talk about his rise through the ranks, escaping the contest circuit, and getting kicked off helicopters. China has, until now, largely been a presence in snowboarding mainly via manufacturing the gear and clothing we all utilize, contributor Lorenz Holden and Mr. Wiseman however, break down this emerging shred scene and take a look at a potential massive resort explosion. As if this all isn’t enough, premier photog Adam Clark takes us on an incredible tour of his photography throughout the years with his Gallerie section. Via gut-sucking descents by Jeremy Jones, Ash Christiansen, and amazing landscapes, Adam reminds us how truly incredible it all can be.

Wednesday theme slash trusty technics..
Not sure if you've noticed but this is my third blog post in 3 days. Yes, I'm trying to live up to my word. What to blog about today?? Boring team news like??? ah... Kales sleeping, Duff drank 10 coffee's, Dev's golfing, Mikey has a new weird voice mail message, Wille's experimenting with a new hair cut, Tadashi's eating rice... Nah.. I know, I'll use my trusty google and youtube search technic.
Its Wednesday so I googled "Wednesday images". Super creative, yes I know. Anyway, this is the gold that appeared.
You don't stop when you're on a hot streak so I hit youtube next, searched "Wednesday" again and tadah
I've never seen the movie "Big Wednesday" but will definitely be hunting it down to bring along on my "surf trip" or more realistically "drinking beer on the beach trip" at the end of the month.
You ever realize that once you're on youtube its almost impossible to get off. Its like internet crack. 90 percent of the time you're just watching junk but at the time its more like a butter sandwich. So good going down but you know its bad for you. I don't even know why I'm posting this but I bet you'll watch it till the end.
I guarantee your favorite action sports brand will be sponsoring these dudes next week..
