I am so excited I can hardly wait! In 9 days I will be knee deep in the beautiful, fluffy snow of the Rocky Mountains. No work to worry about. No school projects to deal with. Just me and my board... ok, and probably some beer, too. Who could ask for anything more?
So I loaded my iPod with my "Snowboard Jams" playlist, and hit up Kitchener's Chickopee Ski Club yesterday (shagged off work early and went up before all the after-school-and-work crowd showed up) for some pre-mountain practice. The conditions were "Ontario-ideal." That doesn't say much, I know, but it wasn't bad. It had snowed all day and was still snowing while I was on the hill so everything was fresh and fluffy, though it did start getting ice-packed as more people showed up. I decided to hit up a green run first (since I haven't been on my board in almost a year), but I barely made it to the bottom of the hill because it was so flat! So I headed over to the blacks and shredded the crap out of those. The sad part is that that isn't really impressive at all since their classifications are quite deceptive... let's just say that the supposed "black" runs I was riding were pretty well comparable to Sunshine's green runs, ok maybe an easy blue, but either way, they're pretty lame compared to the mountains.
See? I told you before that I'm a snow-snob! Oh well, in a little over a week it won't matter anymore.
Happy trails!
