my 3rd back-to-back winter is almost over, and it looks like i'm going to embark on a 4th!
i'm making plans to spend my summer in australia, with my boyfriend Matty, at Falls Creek Resort.
it's not exactly NZ, but it will be rad nevertheless. I may even make a trip over to wanaka while im there, at the end of the season or something. i cant be THAT close to wanaka and NOT go, it's such an awesome place!
and i think my season might be over early cause i decked a huge jump at national @ COP on the weekend. it didnt hurt at the time, but the other day i felt my lower back hurting. turns out i pulled some muscles in my lower back and it definitely hurts to ride. guess i cant work either (damn eh haha). as long as i get to ride whistler during the telus fest im happy!
and im heading home to ontario at the end of April, road trippin' it with my Dad!

Big White resort is frickin amazing. We had two feet of freshies on opening day, and now pretty much everything on the mountain is open, including the terrain park! I just started working last week in the terrain park, and it's packed full of fun rails and boxes, but no jumps yet. AND i learned how to boardslide through a flat-down-flat rail! yea yea!
sooo...anyone wanna come spend christmas with me at big white? haha

I'M ON THE MOVE ONCE AGAIN!
2 days ago I accepted a park staff job at Big White resort near Kelowna, BC...SO I'm moving out there in a short two weeks time, and I'll be back in Ontario once the season is over in April! COME VISIT ME!

This past weekend was f*cking intense. I got back from NZ just a week ago, and it was straight into the Toronto Ski+Snowboard show, working at the SBC booth all 4 days. The parties were dope which made for not such a fun time getting out of bed in the morning and going to work! Thursday night was the In Case of Emergency premiere, and I was stoked to finally see the video and especially my part in it! Friday night was the You Look Good party and it's always fun to dress up for that, pink tie and all! THEN there was the Snowboard Canada party on Saturday night...too many beers that night made me still drunk the morning after, and still when i got to the ski show at noon! Luckily I was asked if I wanted to go home since it wasn't busy, so I gladly did. Oh and I got to meet Mark Frank Montoya (and Ikka Backstrom is there in the photo too) at the SBC party, I've decided he's my gangster of love. haha
And the part I'm most proud of from the whole weekend is that I spent a whopping $10 total on clothes! Time to start saving my money and paying off my NZ trip.
Might be going to Ottawa this Saturday for a jib comp, and then Jibfest is in two weeks!
AND I'm having a Halloween party at my apartment in Toronto on Sunday, Oct. 29th! Let me know if you wanna come and if you need directions!

Here's some pretty exciting news...I'll be home in exactly ONE WEEK! I just left Wanaka today, and I'm going to travel around the bottom of the South Island for about a week, then fly home! FINALLY! it's been pretty long since I've been in Canada (well 4 months is pretty long for me to be halfway across the world from my home!) so I'm hella stoked to get home and see everyone again! You guys had all better be ready for the ski+snowboard show parties, especially the one mentioned in the flyer below...cause I'm in the video, so you gotta come out to this premiere party, its going to be OFF THE HEEZIE!

Hot off the press, boys and girls, here's the news!
I just changed my flight.....so I'm OFFICIALLY coming home Sunday, October 8th, just in time for the big Toronto Ski+Snowboard Show parties, and also the video premiere party for In Case Of Emergency!
SO get ready to party in the t-dot, me with my goggle tan and all of you with your full-body tans! woo hoo!

so I arrived in Wanaka one week ago...I've already been snowboarding 6 of those days! and it's safe to say that Snowpark is AMAZING! I found a place to stay on my first day in town when I was riding @ Cardrona, so I'm sharing a flat with 3 Calgarians and one American. Now all I need is a job, and I'm set!
Treble Cone's opening day on Tuesday was EPIC...so much fresh powder, and the terrain is all chutes and bowls and off-piste goodness. it feels soooooo good to shred real powder, considering Ontario doesn't get much of that at all.

Today I did an 8 hour hike on the Franz Josef glacier...fooking amazing! My legs are jelly but it was SO worth it...and tomorrow I get to Wanaka! chyeea!
Just found out that the place that was being held for me in Wanaka was given away to someone else earlier this week, so I'm back to square one. Looks like its going to be tough to find something half decent for a good price! So if anyone knows of something, let me know! =D
Snowpark is open on Thursday and Canada Day is on Saturday...and hopefully Friday I'll be riding in the 'Expression Session' rail (?) comp at Coronet Peak in Queenstown!

so i'm staying at my friend Maia's house for the weekend, because Mt.Ruapehu (aka Mt.Doom in Lord of the Rings) is set to open for riding tomorrow! We've all got our fingers crossed for good weather. Then I'm heading down south again...it'll take me another 8 days to get down to Wanaka on the Kiwi bus, just in time to jump over to Queenstown for the winter festival! woot woot! i'm going to try and ride the Night Rail Jam, but I think it's invite only. I'll have to find out soon.
YAY SNOW!!!
P.S. bungy jumping and skydiving were AWESOME!!!
went blackwater rafting today in Waitomo...I'm in Taupo right now and tomorrow morning i'll be bungy jumping AND sky diving and then to a thermal spa! fooking intense!!! =D

NZ is AMAZING by the way
Just a short note to say that in about 10 hours, (which would make it 7:30am on Monday NZ time) I'll be jumping on a bus to head on a Kiwi Experience bus tour for 2-3 weeks! Who knows how often I'll be able to update this blog while I'm on the road, but look forward to some AMAZING landscape photos and stories! WOO HOO!

So right now I'm in Auckland, the most populated city in New Zealand. FINALLY! muahaha
I think I've finally gotten used to the time change, since I slept for 5 hours yesterday afternoon, and for a ton more hours last night. My next plan is to get a bus heading to Queenstown on Sunday, and it'll probably take over a day to get there. But at least I'll get to see more than I would if I was on a plane!
I'm really indecisive about what to do today, there's lots to do here, but I keep trying to stay awake from anything TOO touristy...but really, I should just accept that I AM a tourist, and do whatever the hell I want...right? =D
I met a really cool graf artist/gallery owner named Andres while wandering around downtown San Francisco, and Shepard Fairey (OBEY) just had an exhibit at his gallery last month. Andres showed me a bunch of art in the storage areas of the gallery, like some original OBEY works and also some of his. DOPE shi*t that's for sure. We hit it off and he got me into a couple bars (since I'm underaged in the US) and I kicked his ass at pool. haha. He showed me around town and we had a super fun time. yea yea!
So now I'm off to wander the city and find some fun. It's too hilly here so I can't skate. Boo!
so here i am at the hostel in downtown SAN FRANCISCO!!! there are some hot aussie boys behind me playing cards, i'm getting kindof excited! haha oh my, it's already begun...me going nuts over boys from down under...YUM!!!
i leave san fran wednesday at 9pm, and so far it really sucks having a bruised/sprained/f*cked up ankle/foot. i dont even know whats wrong with me but im pissed and it hurts to walk and skate and whatnot. but im trooping along anyway! probably will take one of those touristy bus tours tomorrow, whatever its something to do besides walking! haha.
MELTDOWN last night was EFFING AWESOME and if you came and i saw you, im stoked...if you came and left early and i DIDNT see you, you SUCK!!! haha the after party was kinda lame cause it was a sunday night and noone really stuck around, so most everyone missed seeing me in my little white dress that my friend Rae made me, which was HOT! you can see a photo of it in my photo galleries from when i wore it to one of the YLG after parties...
so, time to meet some cute boys! woo hoo!
y'all should send me emails and notes and whatnot, although i wont get back to them right away. y'hear!?!?!

SO I was super excited to find my copy of 'true love' in the mail yesterday... Lesley Bridge is a 4th year Fashion Communications student at Ryerson University. I just watched 91 Words for Snow, David Benedek and Christoph Weber’s snowboard film…

…it’s mind blowingly amazing. I can’t get over how creative and well shot the whole film is.
You get a rider’s-eye view of big Alaska lines, and of huge kickers in Whistler backcountry. The urban rail section is dope, too.
Benedek is one of my favourite riders and this just proves how much skill and imagination he has.
If you haven’t seen this film yet, do it now. Prepare to have your mind blown.

This is super last minute, but I'm heading to Jay Peak Resort in Vermont tonight and shredding all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday! A friend of mine had someone in his group decide to drop out and sell his spot on the bus to me for 100$, when he paid 400$!!! So I'm paying next to nothing for a bus ride there and back, 3 days lift tickets, and accomodations! How f*cking rad is that? So no Juicy Fruiting for me this weekend, no birthday kegger for Rob, and no PBRJ @ Blue even though I was really looking forward to it. BUT I'd much rather shred in Vermont where they get pooploads of snow, especially for so damned cheap! Anyway kids, have fun in Onterrible this weekend! muahaha.....

YAY FOR 3RD PLACE!!! today was the You Look Good competition @ Lakeridge resort. I haven't ridden there in 2 years, but they're park is SO much sicker now! props to natalie for taking 2nd place and danielle for taking home yet another first place cheque!

went into the outback for the first time this year on tuesday, and it was wiggity-WACK! i got the courage to hit the smallest of the huge tables, the 45-footer, even without wearing my helmet. knuckled the first few times but finally got the feel for straight airs. fun fun fun! everyone around me is getting hurt, broken, sprained, and concussed! taylor, karlie, smolik, victor, all injured in the past 2 weeks. and ALL in the OUTBACK! taylor, karlie, and vic were all wearing helmets, and ALL were concussed! i can't help but be spooked... gotta keep my body in one piece this season since the job i have requires snowboarding. i'm the Juicy Fruit Team Leader of the Ontario Snowboard Ambush Team! yay! so i go to local mountains and events to give out free gum. sweeeet, huh? btw did i mention i get paid per hour, free lift tix, lodging, food, board, bindings, outerwear? maybe that was supposed to be classified info, but i guess i want to make you all jealous! muahaha maybe ill post a list of what resorts my SWEEEET team will be at! you can actually win some SICK stuff like snowboards, mp3 players, and a garage band set if you go on the www.juicyfruit.ca or text GREEN to JUICY. did i mention the new Juicy Fruit colour is, none other than my FAVOURITEST of colours, GREEN! hells yes kids, its "Twisted Green". oh you love it. ramble on, janelle
