Hey, Julie. 

Congrats on the NZ trip!  Very jealous!  Our 6-month season has been great here, but I'm still itching for more turns. Chinook Pass should be open soon! 

My wife is close to your size (she's 5'3" 105lbs), and she's riding a 144 Rome Vinyl and absolutely loves it, especially compared to her old, superstiff 141 Rossi.  tightboards.com has the 147 Vinyls on sale, so check them out for sure.  It's a great intermediate board with good pop in the tail for ollies and remains stable at higher speeds.  (If anyone suggests a "beginner board," don't go for it as you'll grow out of it too soon and it might hold you back.)

I second elsnowboardo's recommendations on the Ride VXn bindings as well as his suggestion to hit up SnoCon as well as Evo in Fremont in Seattle to see what they have.
