Rider: Myrosha Daley

Sometimes you think you've snagged a banger of a shot, but then no one likes it.  Sadly, this photo is not getting published, nor is it getting used anywhere.  Why?  I have no idea really.  I thought it was one of the best photos I took all season.  Maybe it's the rail phase people are going through?  I dont know.
What I do know is that Myrosha Daley is one of my favourite people to shoot with.  He's the Mr. Nice Guy of snowboarding and his buttery smooth style doesn't go un-noticed.
Thanks Myrosha for a wonderful day and some wonderful memories.

Some people are snowboarding right now!  And it's not me.  But that's ok, I can accept the fact that they can ride some pow pow (damn you Jeff) and I can accept the fact that people are out shooting handrails too (damn you Owen).  I'm fine with all of this because I'm concentrating hard on what I love.  It's not that I don't love snowboarding, or that I love photography more than snowboarding, it's that I love each equally.  And sometimes, mainly last winter, I get tied up with one more than the other (mmmm powder).  This year is different, and as horrendous as no snowbooarding (well fun snowboarding) for me sounds, it's truly going to still be an epic year in my mind.

Rider - Matt Gordon

Life's funny like that.  Just as everyone is making their massive switch to "digital", I'm making my massive switch to "film".  What is this blasphamy you speak of?  Film!  I thought that shi*t was outdated and more of a "fine art" form.
Well, I'm finding myself in a crazy world of new challenges of countless dreams and aspirations.  This wonderful world is really slowing me down and getting me to think more technically that ever before.  I'll attribute some of my future photos (the ones up my head and not on a paper) to this new found notion of slowing down.

Well, I was pretty bored today, so I made a new gallery.  It might take me some time to properly scan some of these but I just added what was on my computer already.

Pre-"Slushy Slash"

I had a glimpse of winter there for a moment.
On Thursday after classes I ripped down to Seattle for the "Blotto Photo" exhibition (thanks Kirby for the ride).  Friday morning I ripped back up to Victoria to go to class.  After classes I ripped down over to Vancouver.  Saturday I woke up and was off to typical Vancouver errands and bullshi*t.  Blah blah people people and ended up firing off 4 rolls of film.  Sunday I woke up nice and early and ripped up to Whistler.  I was there for a total of 3 hours then Skelhorn hopped on the bus and ripped down to Vancouver for a nice happy turkey day.  Monday morning we woke up and skated Kirkstone and Lonsdale for a couple hours, firing off more film like it grew on trees.  We ripped back for a lunch with my rents when Welters showed up.  Beer at the pub then back home to start packing.  I drop Andrew off at the airport and rip over to Hartmans house before I catch the ferry so he can check out the new "In Transit" flick.  About as fast as I had arrived, I was outta there and on the 9pm ferry.  Thanks to some lovely traffic, I got home at 11:45pm.

What the f*ck does this have to do with winter?  Ask any rider who travels - it's a mirror image.
