hey guys... i just wanted to get some of ur opinions on whether or not i should get a new board... my board length is only 1490 and im 16 and weigh 145-150 pounds... im probably about 5'7 or 5'8. it seems kind of small for me and i was debating whether or not i should look into getting a new one. I generally preffer smaller boards but i dont want it to be TOO small either, i would just go ride and see how it feels but there is no snow yet so yeah haha. anywyas, just let me know what u think, i would appreciate it, thanks!

I'm 5'9" 155 lbs and I ride a 155 (have ridden 150cm to 178cm long boards)

1490 mm (aka 149cm ) is kind of small... but fine if you prefer jibbing and dorking around in the park. If you like going fast on steep slopes and feel like the board is squirrelly and flapping under you then you probably should get a longer board.

What model is your board? (it's not that Lamar 154 you have listed in your profile).

That board is not much better than your current Lamar board. Aperture snowboards doesn't actually exist, it's just a brand that Zumiez, a clothing store, made up buy buying a lot of cheap generic snowboards in bulk, and slapping their topsheet on it. You wouldn't buy a snowboard from The Gap, would you?

For the same amount of money you can get a much better board - like the following

Rome Solution 154   - $279 (30% off)
Ride Control 151   - $209 (40% off)
Omatic Boron 151   - $179 (40% off)

The links I provided are no tax, free shipping, and guaranteed warranty returns.

You can get away with it.  I'm 6'0 tall, 135 lbs and currently ride a 145cm board.

Brociety deals last for 15 mins max so that deal is long gone... Burton Custom X is an ok board (I demo'd both the 2009 Custom and 2009 Custom X two summers ago)... but I personally wasn't super impressed by the feel, the flex or sidecut or pop for that matter (my friend liked it, but didn't feel the Custom X was worth the extra money and got the Custom for 50% off). I did like the Burton X8 (so I don't hate on all of Burton... just a lot of it) and picked that up for 50% off - although it is now the least ridden board in my collection (although again another one of my friend uses it as his go to board).

Then there is the whole ICS binding thing... I found it kind of a wash... I do like the ability to have better stance width adjustment... but it's annoying to setup (difficult to get the angles and centering right). It does change the way the board flexes (not in a bad way, but not an amazing difference for me)...

Overall, I don't think it was worth the money/effort personally.

Seems to me like changing angles on an ICS board is easy. Instead of having a notch every couple degrees, it can be whatever you want. Certainly not a difficult task. The only bad part about ICS boards is riding buton bindings. Toss a different highback on those things and they are fine, but I hate when highbacks are so high they dig into your knees.

The problem is there is too much freedom of movement... normally there are four degrees of freedom - angles, toe/heel centering, setback, and stance width. Is it virtually impossible to quickly change just one of these dimensions without disturbing the others (meaning if you want to widen the stance by a half inch you have to redo the angles every time). This is compounded by the fact that the angle indicators are hard to read difficult to set to the same angle settings as regular non-ICS bindings.
