Hey,

I've been eyeing the NeverSummer Premier for the longest of time but it's apparently too long. At 5"2, a 157 premier would be too long and I won't consider the Lotus.

So, I need advice as to which snowboards would be the best freerides to have around.
Current setup: Atomic radon & Rome Targas...may get Union Force SL if there's a chance

Few that comes to mind:

Thanks,

Yea... the Premier R 157 would be long for you... if you are against the Lotus R 151 or 154 (a women's board is simply a regular snowboard made for someone who is lighter and has smaller feet like you). I was pretty light when I started out (125 lbs) and have smaller feet to (7.5).

So anyways... so I suggest the dominant freeride board company Donek snowboards. Prior Snowboards is also good, but their shortest freeride board is 158... so that leaves Donek. They are a great little company in Colorado that have been making excellent boards for decades. I used to have a Donek Incline Freeride 155 that was a hard charging monster. If you email/call them, you will likely talk to the owner and master board marker Sean Martin. He will actually help you through picking out a board... you can even order a custom spec-d boards with custom topsheet graphic if you want (he often builds custom board for pro racers).

That's just my suggestion.

Love my T6's but next time(if I have a choice) I"ll go with a NS or a libtek with a tapered tail to keep the front end up.

With that said my T6 is fast as hell(noticeably faster than most other riders) and eats up ice and chop\crud for breakfast like no other board I've ever ridden, alum core is not very forgiving though this thing will buck ya if you get lazy at the end of the day.

I was with a mountain guide(skiier) @ snowbird and he commented on how well my T6 held an edge on the icy steeps in comparison to what he was used to seeing.

yes, i can't consider lotus since it looks too girly now , flowers, pink and all that

thanks for Donek suggestion. I'll look into it. If I ever have money,  maybe they can make one customized to my size.

To clarify, I was hoping to keep an eye on a nice snowboard, and then grab it up when it went on sale but i'll assume these ones like prior or Donek wouldn't be on sale or at least won't be given a signficant discount

You are correct, Prior and Donek aren't bulk produced, in fact most are made when you order them, so they never have the super big drop in price at the end of the season. Incidentally, Neversummer rarely goes on sale more than 20-30%, again because the margins on them are lower.

Actually you know... your current setup is a pretty good freeride setup (Atomic Radon, Rome Targa, Burton Driver X)... assuming the Radon is the right size for you and it hasn't gotten over a 100 days of riding on it yet.

hmm, 149 is the smallest for guys but it's a bit longer for me

you right that it's a good freeride setup and it still has a lot of life in it. Plus I usually go for like 4-5 hours so it's pretty much new :
Atomic radon - 13-14 days
Rome Targa - 6 days
Driver X - 18 days

I guess I was asking just in case there's a signficantly better board out there, maybe I could keep an eye out and snatch it up when it goes on sale.

But if there's other board out th

If you at 118 lbs and only freeriding... a 149cm board is not too long for you. It's more that you aren't quite ready yet for true freeride boards (which are longer and both longitudinally and torsionally stiffer). As you get better and more experienced, you will find you are able to control your board more easily using less effort. Instead of fighting and manhandling the board into skidded turns, you will learn to guide the board into smooth, carved turns.

Venture Snowboards also makes some great freeriding boards that are shorter and narrower... but after reading your posts... I get the feeling that it will all come to you with more practicing, instruction, and training.
