cartels for park are gong to be too stiff, unless by park you mean big air or pipe, or unless you like something more stiff.  keep in mind that the cartels are rated a 7 out of ten on burton's stiffness scale.

there is no right or wrong binding for any type of riding. Some people say stiff bindings arn't good for park, while others like myself only ride stiff bindings and ride park all the time. Same goes for saying soft bindings don't freeride well. Some people prefer a softer binding no matter what. It's all in your preference for the type of gear that you ride.

The cartel EST is stiff and has a pretty aggressive forward lean. That being said its a fun ride with tons of response and comfort. I think for $250 there are much better bindings out there but thats just my opinion

Sweet thanks guys. I'm going to try them out, see how it goes. Now another thing. Can you run these bindings on any board? Or does it have to be like a burton board? I heard that some people run into problems when they buy their stuff, that it doesn't fit properly. ( stupid question but I don't want to buy a messed up setup that doesn't fit)
Im thinking about getting a K2 - Darkstar, with the Cartel EST. Will it work?

EST bindings are for burton boards with the Channel only; they won't work on non-burton hole patterns... regular Cartels will fit your darkstar.
YEAH RIGHT!

if your going to buy the bindings from a store, just tell the sales person what board you have and you want burton cartels they will give you the ones that fit, and they come with the base plates you will need to put them on your board. The store will probably put them on the board for you if you ask them to.

shit, good thing i asked. The Ski and Snowboard show is going on this weekend in toronto so im picking them up from there. The thing is that i don't want to ask the people working there because their probably going to try and make a huge sale on me, if it looks like i don't know what im talking about. that's why i figure i'd ask. Thanks for everyones input.

no problem, just make sure the cartels you get have baseplates, which are the removeable disks that sit where your feet go. the ones that wont work for your board are the bindings that say est on them and have no base plates.

cool thanks. i went by sport check and talked to this cool hippy looking guy that told me the same thing. From what i took from the burton forum, i thought that the EST was like some new technology that they just came out with that made the bindings perform better. I didn't think that it was a new way to mount the binding. That's what the video on the website made it out to be. Thanks again for all the help.
