I had the chance to see Standard's 09/10 offering yesterday. As usual, the cinematography and locations are top-notch as should be expected. It appears (to my displeasure) that they are beginning to shift toward the trend of park/urban heavy content...just like everyone else. There were some good freeride and big mountain segments including a nice (small) segment featuring a freeride comp. I'll have to look it up, but I don't think I saw any Jeremy Jones - he didn't have his own segment for sure...I guess he's more focused on filming his own projects/TGR and launching his new snowboard company. Also missing were many of Standard's standard riders with the exceptions of Mark Landvick (sp?). I suppose in a recession, you offer no-names less money and can still make a movie?

I'd also be curious to see what people think about the audio editing...I noticed that every rail slide, bonk, jib and landing seemed to have pre-recorded sound effects added...most noticable was the cannon/thunder sounding effect when someone landed a big kicker air.

In general, I was less than impressed...but if you're looking for a high-energy, jib happy film...this is it.

I'm going to respectfully disagree on that. I think the film was really good. It had a bit more park and rails than Standard usually does, but by no means was it a jib-happy film. There were tons of good shredders and I think most if not all the people who had rail parts, also had backcountry parts.

The film was sick and Torstein Horgmo's part was amazing once again.

yeah dude, torstein horgmo's part was wicked. that sound effect sounds like it was taken from the transformers movies. have another listen. in some spots it was kinda cool, but in others it didnt really blend with the music. i think i noticed the same use of sound editing in neverland, but i'd have to watch again. overall, blackwinter is pretty good.

I watched Torstein's part on youtube and although it was good, especially the park run part, I knew I would get sick of that stupid explosion noise pretty fast.
Am I indecisive? Well, yes and no.

with this being only the second video ive seen, i liked it. the trailer looked really good on snowrev.com and it didnt quite live up to how big they made it seem off the trailer. but other than that id watch it a few times over. good bit of urban stuff and park with some freeriding/pow thrown in the mix

Xavier.  For big mountain.  Nuff asid.  Sick.
The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the
urge to throw a snowball. Just cause I rode you last night, does
not mean I have to ride with you today.

There was some good young DC riders in that flick.

A lot more jibbing than I recall from Standard but it was still a good mix and I didn't mind.
