I think this is the only age group forum that has any activity in it.  Its funny that we all grew up on this place, and are the only ones still here.  And the teen forum used to be the most busy, yet, its not been posted in August 26th....

its cause we're all rockstars, and no matter how lame the site has become.....we still have to get at least a once daily fix.

I don't even belong here anymore, given my age....but I am still 12 at heart!  But you are both right: this is the only busy section for age groups pretty much because we rule.

Hey man.... if you find your good at something stick with it. It may be your calling.

Random fact that makes me feel old:

I was babysitting a couple kids yesterday that didnt know who the spice girls or backstreet boys where. It's good for them...but still.......

Theres kids in grade 2 that weren't alive when 9/11 happened....

They still have a lot of shitty music on the airwaves now. There always will be. Pop Culture. Who was the last good Pop Band? Most of us were not alive for it. Its a shame really. I didn't know 9/11 happened untill 4 hours later. Didn't know what really happened til 6 later when I got home from school. My teachers wouldn't let us watch. scoopers, when my ex girlfriend was my age, I wasn't alive.....

The cartoons from when I was a kid have either (a) been banned because they are considered racist - speedy gonzalez, those two black birds (can't remember the names) - or - (b) have been turned into terrible, feature length films whose only redeeming quality is Meagan Fox's slow motion cleavage -or- (c) have been deemed too violent for our "wear a helmet for everything" youth of tomorrow. ie bugs bunny, gi joe, anything by warner bros.

Dont even get me started on transformers. I know some friends that absolutely loved it. If it wasnt so loud, I would've fallen asleep in the theatre.

As for bug bunny... I love the old ones.  You can tell they where made by old men, drinking smoking men, who had a good sense of humour (slapstick and otherwise).

It really makes you wonder about the direction society is taking. I mean, sexuality is flourishishing in some senses (the internet, tv shows are being more racy), violence is applauded in others (UFC, violent movies) and yet, we're being scolded for those as well. And the whole "wear a helmet for everything" is so true as well. As a kid, my dad got a carpantry set for xmas. And woodburning tools. He used to hitchhike across canada.  If a child today did/got any of those things, the parents could be charged with child endangerment.

You know, the depressing thing about that, some of its true.  Fight Club.  That movie was more right that I think they figured it would be, in many ways.  I love to cage fight.  Its a great release, and you don't hate each other.  You go to the bar later, and drink together.  You fight in the street because you hate each other.  Then, you don't hate each other anymore.

Hell, my dad whooped my ass.  Sometimes, well, a lot of times, he went overboard.  I still beleive in spanking though.  We still get along too.  Kind of strained relationship, but we get along.  And thats after almost beating the hell out of him twice.

I remember when you could ignore your kid when they got hurt because you knew they were faking.  Can't do that nowdays.  They say that your personality is shaped between the ages of 8 months and 2 years old.  I've seen proof in it with the way I hear that kids were raised, and then the adult the turn into.  Even with a good friend of mine.  He got drugged the fuck up for bein hyper...his mom wouldn't let him off the drugs.  He had to move out, and not take them in secret, for 6 months.  Wait for his body to get used to not bein on them, and went back.  Then he told her he wasn't on them anymore...hes fine.

Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore.  It pisses me off when I hear adults going "we weren't that bad growing up" after hearing the stories about car surfing and blowing up bombs under your football coaches car...  Really?  Hell, I have to make my own fireworks....

Oh... and dont forget the whole hate crime thing.... 2 kids fighting is very bad. But a black in white kid fighting is a whole nother matter.......

There was that one kid (like 10 years old) charged a few years ago for pointing a chickenwing at a class mate.....

My parents were very liberal (gay right, voted big L liberal all the time,), and quite educated (for a nurse and carpenter... both could quote the works of ancient greeks as well as any novel of note etc)...... and they found the whole safety thing ridiculous. Like I said earlier, my dad would never let me hitchhike because the world is different... but he had no problem with us playing with toy guns. When we were kids he showed us how to use jigsaws and table saws so we could make our toy swords/spears/axes etc. I spent many summers killing my brothers all day haha....

Though I suppose if somone where to do in a more super-liberal area, my dad would be in trouble with child protection, and I'd be suspected of harbouring murderous tendencies.
