Has anyone been able to demo the new Ride bindings with the cant lifts in em? I'm kinda curious on how that makes them ride. I'm always impressed it seems by Ride, but I wana hear reviews first. Have you heard anything El?

I haven't ridden them but i've noticed a lot of this year's Ride bindings have the Wedgie basepads ( canted ). they arent to canted but does seem a good amount... plus with weight on them I imagine they would be nice.

They offer a 1 to 4 degree cant in them. It's great for people with knee issues that ride a wider stance as it keeps the legs straight. They also add a lot more dampening to the binding as well.

So do they really affect your riding at all, or just rider comfort?

Depends... if you have the same amount of cant, then they ride pretty much the same. If you have different amount of cant on the front and back your center of balance is adjusted (more cant on the back and your weight is shifted forward a bit). Racers use it sometimes to tweak their riding (just like a race car driver adds wedges to adjust how their car handles for the track conditions/type).

I use the cant to let me widen my stance with (without them I can't go wider than 20.5-21" stance without my ankles complaining). With them I can ride 23" stance (I'm 5'9" 30" inseam).

How do canted bindings affect buttering?  It seems like they would make it just a bit tougher.

It is easier to butter with wider stance. When you cant your bindings, you typically also widen your stance. I have CantBEDs and find it easier overall to butter with canted bindings and wider stance.

the company is raving about how it adds extra ollie power to your existing level. they have tech vids talkin about the reasons why its better, also talkin about the different degrees of their "wedgie footbeds" for each different rider. cant wait to rock my 4.0's on the nitranes i just picked up...hurry fedex!

Like what I said about buttering... have a wider stance often lets you load up the nose/tail more (more ollie power), and since canted foot beds let you ride a wider stance... that can be true - up to a point... don't be riding 27" wide stances unless you are 6'5" or something.
