I'm looking for somewhere to get the girlfriend(and myself to a lesser extent) trained up in riding pow\glades\trees ect general backcountry stuff.

Whats everyone think of this deal

______________________________________________________________________________________________

"you`ll visit the legendary resorts of Red Mountain, Whitewater, Fernie and Kicking Horse. To top things off, you’ll enjoy high-end accommodation, visits to several natural hotsprings, and an optional day of unforgettable cat-boarding.

Our Canada snowboard coaching program is especially designed for intermediate riders who wish to improve their all-round riding and especially their freeride and powder skills. Our expert instructors will work with you to develop such skills as carving, powder riding, tree riding, riding steeps and picking lines. For those who are interested, there will also be opportunities to receive freestyle instruction. You will be encouraged to ride with increasing speed and confidence, to push your performance, and to optimize your style and technique. All levels will receive video coaching and workshops on such topics as on-mountain safety and tuning and waxing."

Day 1
Welcome to the heart of the Canadian Rockies – home to some of the world’s most famous powder resorts. Our Canada snowboard tour will begin at Calgary International Airport. From here we’ll drive you 3.5 hours to the picturesque resort town of Fernie. Here we’ll stay in stylish apartments a short walk from the center of town.

Day 2
Today we’ll hit Fernie Resort, recently named North America’s ‘Resort of the Year’ by the Good Skiing and Snowboarding Guide. Today will be a warm up day – a chance for your coach to evaluate your development needs and to work with you to determine your goals for the rest of the trip. With a bit of luck, you’ll get your first taste of BC’s infamous powder. After a great day of riding, we’ll head to downtown Fernie for a well-earned dinner.

Day 3
Another day to explore the varied terrain, deep snow and huge skiable area of Fernie Resort. After a full day of coaching and riding, we’ll head back to Fernie for our last evening in this relaxed resort town. Tomorrow our Canada snowboard tour will head even deeper into the magnificent Rockies.

Day 4
Our final day of riding at Fernie Resort. We’ll enjoy a last taste of Fernie’s deep powder and wide bowls before heading west to reach two more infamous resorts – Red Mountain and Whitewater. Departing late afternoon, we’ll arrive late evening in Nelson, our home for the next four nights. Set beside a spectacular lake, Nelson is an artists’ community that has grown into a vibrant town of cafes, award-winning restaurants, galleries, live theatre and colorful historical buildings. Here we`ll stay in a lively hotel in the very center of Fernie that’s been described as the `heart and soul of Fernie`.

Day 5
Nelson is a short drive from both Red & Whitewater Resorts, so we’ll visit whichever of the two offers the best conditions on any given day. Both resorts are renowned for huge annual snowfalls, varied terrain, and incredible freeriding; they are the stuff snowboarders dreams are made off! Whitewater receives an average annual snowfall of 1.2 meters and has been rated by Ski Canada as having the best steeps, bowls and glades in Canada. Red Mountain receives an average of 8 meters of snow annually, and is part of Skiing Magazine’s elite ’top 25 resorts’ guide. You’ll explore the very best of these resorts with your instructor, developing your technique and pushing your performance while enjoying some of the best powder in the world! One evening we’ll visit nearby Ainsworth hot springs to soak tired muscles and wind down after some continuous days riding; the other nights we’ll check out Nelson’s many bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs.

Day 6
Nelson is a short drive from both Red & Whitewater Resorts, so we’ll visit whichever of the two offers the best conditions on any given day. One evening we’ll visit nearby Ainsworth hot springs to soak tired muscles and wind down after some continuous days riding; the other nights we’ll check out Nelson’s many bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs.

Day 7
Those who opted for the cat boarding are in for a treat – a full day of powder riding deep in the Kootenay Mountains. Enjoy an unforgettable day of long backcountry runs, deep, untouched powder and spectacular scenery. Those who don’t opt for cat boarding will enjoy another day of coaching and riding at Red Mountain or Whitewater. Tonight will be our last night in Nelson so we’ll make the most of its great nightlife and vibrant culture.

Day 8
Today we’ll head back to either Red Mountain or Whitewater to enjoy our last day of riding and coaching in the Nelson area. After our day on the mountain we’ll jump in the vans for a 2.5 hour drive to Cranbrook, arriving just in time for a final dinner and drinks to farewell those who opted for our 9-day Canada snowboard tour.

Day 9
Those on our 9-day Canada snowboard tour will be transported to Cranbrook Airport for their flight back to Calgary. The rest of us will enjoy a relaxed morning (time to sleep in!) before continuing in the van to our final destination – Golden, home to world-famous Kicking Horse Resort. Today is a rest day. We’ll take a 3.5 hour drive through breathtaking scenery, stopping along the way to enjoy the views, grab some food and visit the renown Radium Hotsprings. We’ll arrive in Golden early evening, just in time to test out one of the quality restaurants in this small, but lively resort town. Our accommodation will be a stylish 4 ½ hotel located a short drive from downtown Golden.

4 Optional Days
Day 10
Some may say we`ve saved the best till last! We`ll spend the final days of our Canada snowboard tour at Kicking Horse Resort enjoying the great terrain and high vertical that make this resort so famous. Voted # 1 North American ski resort for powder and #2 for steeps, Kicking Horse is a Mecca for powder lovers from around the world. Today you`ll have the chance to explore the resort`s world-renown bowls and steeps with our guides, perfecting your technique and challenging your performance. In the evening we`ll head into downtown Golden for dinner at our favorite local restaurant.

Day 11
Today we`ll head back to Kickinghorse for more small group instruction and unforgettable powder runs. Golden is home to incredible backcountry, awesome tree riding and memorable steeps so there`s something for everyone. If we`re lucky we`ll even get to experience some of the `powder pillows` that interior British Columbia is so famous for. In the evening we`ll check out the many bars and restaurants in Golden.

Day 12
Our final day at Kickinghorse and our final day of snowboarding in the powder triangle. Today`s your last chance to work on the many skills you`ve learned during the trip and to marvel (hopefully!) at how much your riding has improved. It`s also your last chance to enjoy great powder runs. This evening we`ve have a last dinner in Golden to celebrate the end of our ultimate Canada snowboard tour!

Day 13
Our Canada snowboard tour ends with a 3 hour drive back to where it all began – Calgary Airport!

i think they're missing a zero. also, i can't find anywhere it says that accommodations are included. even if you're staying in hostels (which it sounds like you're not), you can't get 8 nights accommodation for $200. the banff hostel was ridiculously expensive ten years ago; i can't imagine anything in the area has gotten cheaper. fernie and golden aren't far off.

also also, the company is based in california. wtf? maybe it's $200USD. it still wouldn't make much sense.

i'd be really careful before booking anything if i were you... call them and ask lots of questions. find out how they make money off trips like this.

I think that's awesome! Except I looked a little more into it, and I think that's $200/day - if you go to the "booking" part of it, it leads you to this site: http://www.accesstrips.com/sports/canada-snowboard/, (the actual site of the company that offers the trip) which says the prices are from CND 3845 | ~ USD 3312.. neither of which even works out to $200/day.. it works out to over $350/day, assuming that those prices are for the nine day option (since it says "from")

Still seems like a sweet trip, but not as amazing when it's more than 10x more than what that first site advertised.
Buy stuff I made because I'm awesome!

Yeah, there is no way that 10 day package is $200 per person.  Sounds like a great trip.

Best way to learn to ride in powder is to ride powder.  I know, I am stating the obvious.  Maybe go with a snowcat operator or something.  Blue Sky West or Steamboat Powder cats, whatever they are calling themselves these days, offers an "intermediate" day I believe.  They operate on Buffalo Pass which usually gets double the snow fall of Steamboat.

Other options are taking an avalanche course and going out on your own.

Another option is to dip your big toe into the backcountry without exposing yourself to much risk.  I can only give you a Colorado option as all bc areas out of state I've been too do not have the safer, easier terrain you are requiring.

The front faces of Berthoud Pass are relatively safe if you stay out of lift gully.  The east side is known as Hell's Half Acre and is basically an intermediate run right to the parking lot.  The funny thing is that it never gets tracked out, and is a relatively short hike to the to the top of it.  The west side has Main Line and it is generally good for days after a storm.  A good introduction to backcountry riding in general.  Keep in mind these are the safe spots, venture out of these areas I described and you'll quickly be in real avalanche terrain with real hazards and the real possibility of getting killed.  As an intro the two post described are plenty safe though.  I know you hit up Colorado, so that is why I threw it out there.  You could easily do a day or two at the pass and enjoy resort riding too.
