compared to the oregon scientific offerings in the $100 price range, the vholdr is a much better no-frills point&shoot option

spend a little more and you can get a tachyon xc

Get the Tachyon.  I have used many different electronics while snowboarding, and waterproof is a must for anything external.
 
Spend the $100 on this if you want to have it ruined by the end of the season, or simply pony up another $50 and get the Tachyon which should last you mush longer.
 
But hey, if you only plan to use it for activities that won't end up with it getting wet, buy away!
