Ok so I bought some size 11.5 32 Lashed boots while I was out in Colorado but I got them on the last day of the season so I didn't really have too much time to ride them. A couple questions.

1.) With the foot mold thing they have in them can you use a hair dryer to warm it and mold it to your foot? And for how long do you hold it in there for?
2.) When i started riding them there was a little pressure on my inside ankle bone. Will this go away after I break them in?
3.) When i started riding them they were really stiff. How many times of riding does it take to loosen them up? And how loose do they get?

hey,

what most people dont understand about boots now is that you shouldn't go strictly by how they fit in the store. when i got my lashed, the fit horribly. they take a little breaking in but i rode mine almost 100 days this past season.

the best bet is to take them to the store you bought them at. most authorized 32 retailers have the footbed molding machine, which is the official way to do it.

you can, however, do it yourself...as i did and my boots are now the best pair in the world. better than yours even! take the hair dryer and do exactly what you think you'd do...just be careful because it is possible to burn the liners. this is why you DO NOT do it in the microwave. once the ENTIRE liner is about as warm as a heating pad gets, slip them on and stand in the same spot for 10-15 minutes. DONT walk around - if you did it right, you'll sslloowwllyy feel the beds forming and it will feel like you are sinking into them.

it helps if you do it twice - i waited about a month after riding them to form them a second time. also, be sure not to neglect the upper when youre heating - youd be surprised how painful youre shins can get if its not molded properly.

best bet for keeping them that way is to not leave them in your car after riding - cold boots lose for everyone.

ps - i hope you got last years lashed with the STI foam soles - they are exponentially better than all previous years and im sure i wont buy any other boot than 32.

hope this helps.

Double and triple make sure you take the foot beds out before heating them up.(If you got winter of 08-09 and up)

It's risky doing it with a hair dryer. If they have heat setting set it on the lowest setting and blow it for about 5 mins. :) If you heat them too long the liners will actually harden (this means you fucking burnt the shit). To play it safe I would forget about the hair dryer and just wear them while watching t.v. your own body temp will mold them. The heaters that 32 gives to the shops blow warm air, they aren't anything close to the temp that comes out of a hair dryer.

I've rode 32 lashed each season for the past 4. They do pack out, I always get 1 size smaller than my reg boot size.

If they pack out to much you can always try using the 32 tongue stiffeners. I have 1.3 million of them. If you want a pair I will most definitely mail you a pair for freesies.

Heating the boot by myself means heating the inner boot or shall I take the inner boot off and heat the main boot?

you heat the liner while it is in the shell, but take the insole out before you warm the boots up...

when you are molding the boot to your foot you should do it sitting down, not standing up.  When you stand up your feet flatten out, and its gonna stretch the liner out more than you really want it to.  it is best to form the boots with your feet in a neutral position, because that is gonna give them the best fit.

yeah i wouldnt worry too much about them being stiff. they'll pack in and eventually turn to mush like mine did. im really disappointed because they fit my feet so well and rode amazing until they got extremely soft.... so if anyone knows a pair of boots that ride like the lashed before they turn to mush let me know because 32 boots fit my feet really well. been loooking at the tm2s which are suppsosed to be a little bit stiffer than lashed.. so maybe they'll pack in and ride good?

The amount of time that boots soften/wear out depends entirely on much and how hard you ride. 32's seem to wear and get floppy faster than other brands that I have had(nitro and burton). Proper fit to your feet and bindings has an effect as well. So it's hard to put a # of days to how long it will take to loosen them up, I personally want my boots to stay stiff as long as possible because floppy boots=sprained ankles. I just bought a new pair of prospects after fighting with Nitro Selects all of last year. Never had such foot pain in my life. I even took a dremel to em to relieve pressure points but it didn't work.
