i'm moving from kelowna to vancouver this year and i've never been to any of the hills in the lower mainland except whistler... whistler is too far for me to drive to every weekend, so i figured it would be better to get a pass to one of these mountains. i only have the cash to get a pass to one for this year, and i ride a lot of park, and when theres powder backcountry (not so much leisurely cruising, moreso building jumps and whatnot).

anyone have any insight which of these would be most suitable to what i ride? i know cypress is hosting some events for the olympics, so i imagine the park is off limits or reduced anyways during that? any help would be appreciated

grouse fucking sucks ass (both terrain-wise and management-wise, unless you spend all your time in the quiksilver park, lowest lift is 850m, highest point is 1250m)

seymour is small but cheap (good park features, ass-terrible lifts, lowest lift is 935m, highest point is 1250m, backcountry peak is higher)

cypress is cheap next season and has the most terrain (although available terrain will be reduced, lowest lift is 800m, highest point is 1440m)

hemlock is only good on powder weekdays (i believe they only run all lifts on fridays and weekends, lowest lift is 975m, highest point is 1325m)

manning never has lines of more than 5 people and has mostly consistent snow (but is about 3 hours from vancouver, lowest lift is 1350m, highest point is 1800m)

i believe every season pass at the vancouver hills gets you 50% off lift tickets at manning

Grouse would be fine if you want to ride 100% park.  Otherwise it sucks.  There's really nothing interesting there as far as terrain.

Cypress is where I ride but I'm not likely getting a pass there next year.  It's going to be a total mess with the Olympics and will be shut down completely for six weeks.  I expect the rest of the season it to be about 50-75% closed for Olympic stuff.  It has the best terrain but the park is WEAK and they rarely groom the pipe unless there is a competion, training, or something where they HAVE TO.  Cypress has left a bad taste in my mouth from ignoring the locals and catering only to the comps/tours that come through.

Seymour is cool but really small and the lifts are super slow.  There's a strong park scene there and some of the terrain is decent in spots but nothing great.  It's cheap which is a huge bonus.  Lifts are terrible.  Backcountry is cool but you better know where you're going.

There is the Cypress/Seymour deal that may be cool but I don't think it has been announced yet.

AFTER THE REVOLUTION THERE WILL BE NO MORE HAMBURGERS

I'll be working in the bistro this winter so I'll have a free pass.  Just a heads up, Grouse will be open to the public 24 hours a day during the 2 week stretch of the Olympics
