I bought the 2009 Dakine Cobra GT gloves and the seems have blown up and the fingers have been shredded up on both hands.  I rarely drag my hands and don't do too many grabs.  My old Dakine (lower end models) lasted forever and my mitts so far have been working fine.  So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?  I'm returning them and was wondering if it was just a defective glove (and get another pair) or if I should look for another glove.  If so, what would be a similar glove as far as price and performance?  From the reviews on backcountry/dogfunk it seems like some people have had this issue with these and the Broncos too.

You know...I have had alot of dakine gloves and mits over the years. Mostly because I will forget my gloves at the house and just buy another pair at the resort instead of going home to get them. I had a pair of mits that lasted a season and I have had a pair that lasted one week before they were completely shreadded.

But, I have also had the Dakine Bronco mits for 3 seasons now and they have been fine. The fingers have a little wear in them, but the wear isnt past the gortex layer.

I've got the dakine element mittens from a couple seasons ago and they're holding up like a tank.  Just got some 09 broncos for spring and, although I've only used them once, they don't seem as high quality - shell is more plasticy and the liner is barely sewn into the glove so it gets all tangled when you stick your hand in

Thanks guys.  I'm not too happy with the quality of the new gloves but I've had good experiences before so it's hard to just go with something new unless they've failed me twice.

I guess with the season ending soon, I'm not in a rush to find new ones yet.  I'll take my store credit for now and see if I can find something else.

I can't believe how shredded the sides of the finger got.  My friends thought that it was from carrying the board but I highly doubt that since I usually carry it with one hand (my left) and my right seems more tore up than the left side.  And the fact that the stitching has blown up in other places, makes it seem like it's just poor construction/quality.

Yeah...thats why I stopped buying their mits. The soft palm on it just fell apart. I mean, one week, exactly one week of riding before the mit was so destroyed I couldnt wear it anymore.

I had 2 pairs of Dakine Bronco gloves, last season, that had poor quality in mfg. They were replaced under warranty, & I ended up with a pair of Bronco GT gloves, which lasted the rest of the season, & have had no issues. They've been the only Dakine model that has let me down, as such. Apart from that, I have no problems with their gloves, or other products they make.

I ended up picking up the Burton Goretex Underglove for 26 bucks.  So I'm going to use that for now.  Maybe I will try them out again next year.  Hopefully the quality goes up.
