95% Freeride
5% Freestyle

Looking to progress to:

70% freeride
30% freestyle

That 30% mainly consisting of tricks on the flats, small kickers here and there, and hitting bigger jumps (hopefully). It also includes trips into the park, maybe a rail or two, but I probably won't ever be a park rat.

Are the Targas, if adjusted to a softer flex, mellow enough for me to progress in freestyle and still suitable for cruising/charging down the mtn? The other logical choice being the 390s.

Thanks in advance...

Have you got them yet, because I want to get them this week. But I see a lot guys who complain about it.

My thought was that they are brilliant... I'm hesitating now :s

yes, targas are adjustable to be either a freeride or freestyle binding...this 2 in 1 is why they're rome's high-end and most exp binding.

390s are really an exclusively freestyle binding and cannot be adjusted the other way (unless you replace the heel hoop, highback and ankle strap with the stiffer ones from the targa)

What kind of problems are you having? And what type of riding do you do?

I've actually read about more issues on the 08 toe straps.

Ah I saw your thread, but thought most of the other people that replied had 390s. I guess the 390s and Targas have the same forward lean adjuster.

Have you tried contacting Rome about the problems you've had? They supposedly have great customer service.

Well...I just have to hope for the best because I already ordered the Targas in Black haha. *fingers crossed*

Thanks to everyone for their responses.

ya most the people there have 390's, but i have seen some others where the targa highback broke on first use, and straps broke. i contacted rome and they are sending me out some new parts, and i told them i want parts from the 08 models so i am getting 2 new highbacks and new straps. i guess we will see how they compare.

Hi MurrayP

any luck getting parts for the 08 model?  My 09 Targa forward lean has the same problem as yours and I'm considering asking them for the 08 highback if the forward lean is no issue on those.

thx

rome sent me a replacement 09 highback for one of my targas...but I had sent them a pic of the broken part and they asked me send the broken highback to them

at my request, they also sent me a set of 08 forward lean adjusters because they actually fit the 09 highbacks more snug and, of course, they work a lot better than the new FLADs

however, I recently sold the 09 targas and bought the 08 model.  The 08 are so much better all around: higher quality, lighter, stronger, completely functional, better looking and less expensive....if you can still even find them (the 07 are also just as good as 08, but even harder to find)

i got 08 parts and i bolted my forward lean adjuster to my 09 highbacks so it isnt a problem anymore, it took alot of fucking around but now it is bolted on solid, but the 08 parts are way better.

Ah so the forward lean adjusters are swappable from the highback (from the 09 to the 08 adjuster)?  Guess I will be requesting the 08 forward lean adjuster if that's the case.

thx!

yep...and not only are they swappable, but the 08 FLAD fit on the 09 highbacks better and you can actually tighten them as much as you want.  No more slop.

I'm guessing rome is getting the request for 08 FLADs alot

Just placed my request to Rome.  hope I can get them changed soon.  It is seriously becoming annoying that the adjuster pops out every two runs.

Overall, the bindings are very good if it wasn't for that adjuster.

i prefer my 08's over the 07's just because it's a little lighter and the toe cap.  other than that, they're pretty much the same.

I think it's the 07 Targas that are basically the same as the 08.  I also own the 08 390 but have never seen the 07s
