my opinion has drastically changed about these bindings over this season.

there isn't near enough forward lean, the auto-strap crap broke on 3 straps, the forward lean adjuster loosened up so it has a hard time staying locked so i had to do some permanent modifications to it, sometimes on hard heelturns the heelcup on my bindings has slid under that shitty lean adjuster, i have no faith in the little shit ladders on the strap side of the bindings (k2 plasmas had the same tech 5 years ago and they broke all the time), my highback cracked. these are most of the problems i have encountered so far, needless to say i will not be riding rome bindings next season. i am riding the rome design 162 and use the 165 and having no problems with the board, anyone else using the design?

I have the 09 390's and the Forward Lean Adjuster is so annoying.  It would snap off at least once every time I take it out.

me too on the 09 390's... forward lean adjuster is wack and gets loose, paint is chipping off, VINYL WRAP brick wall design is tearing/peeling alot here and there, and I eventually just cut off the ladder sleeves because they would either block the ladder from tightening or I'd have to fish the ratchet out from them.  My 07/08's were WAY more reliable.  I emailed rome about these problems and they were no help.

Same here, that is sad because my 07 390s are awesome.  Only problem is the rear toe ramp moves on me after a few runs (usually gets smaller).

08's are fine for me as well

my only complaint is they don't match up well with a burton board/converter

My forward lean for my right highback will snap out too after couple of runs.  annoying part is that you cannot secure the forward lean if the lock ice up.  spoke to the warranty guys about it and they said to tighten the forward lean allen bolt after you adjust it to your desired settings.  I'm going to give that a try and see if it works out.

The bindings are not too bad though overall.

tightening that screw in the FLAD doesn't fix anything...Rome's new "Quicktech" is a failure.  I just don't see how it could have actually been thoroughly rider tested.

Also, "AutoStraps" are annoying as hell.  They do keep the straps out of the way (not that this was ever an issue for me), but they also pull the ratchet away from the ladder when you're trying to tighten...actually makes strapping in slower!  I've heard they snap pretty quickly anyhow, so...POS

This years plastic is cheap and brittle...and it's not even any lighter than previous seasons...actually, with the paint they spray on now, it's slightly heavier!

I'm pretty sure they even downgraded the ladders this year - don't tighten them much or they'll strip (guess that's why they come with a second set).

...and the new colors are ugh-lee. Rome's bindings were much better last two seasons.

i took out the original allen bolt, carved out a space in the back of my highback and put in a quarter inch bolt through my highback and put a nut on the other side after using super glue to hold the adjuster in place. it is flush on the inside of my highback so it dosent rub on my boot and i havent hade a problem since. but i only have one permanent setting, but i never back off from the max setting anyway.
