Hi guys :)

Iam looking to buy my first videocamera ever, mainly for shooting some fun snowboard and everyday footage for my own pleasure, eventually making small films out of it..
I am on a budget as I'm still studying, so money is a little short sometimes..

Cams i found interesting myself:

Panasonic NV GS320 -
http://typethinker.blogspot.com/2007/04/panasonic-nv-gs320-review.html
Costs around 700$ here in Denmark

Canon FS100 -
http://www.simplydv.co.uk/reviews/camcorders/canon/sd/canon-fs100-sd-review.html
Costs 400$ in Denmark

Canon Hv30 -
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Canon-HV30-Camcorder-Review-34401.htm
Around 1100-1200$

What i noticed watching some test review videos on the net was that the Hv30 is sick video quality compared to the other two, but also much more pricey, might be a little TOO expensive..

The Canon FS100 is probably the smallest and handyer of these three, and has OK video quality for what i could see.

Panasonic one is a midrange of those two, a little better quality than the FS100, but also more expensive and a little larger and heavier..

I will be doing the video making in mainly Vegas or Premiere, if that has anything to do with my choice :)

pros/cons for these cameras, or other opportunities?

Thanks in regard
Anders

Yo.  I'd say go with the HV30.  I had a GS-500 which is basically the same camera as the 320 with the addition of a pivotable viewfinder, mic input, and focus ring.  I liked it, but I ended up buying a Canon XH-A1 and needed something to match up better with it as a b-cam.  So I sold the GS-500 and bought an HV-30.  It was a good decision.  The HV is a nice little cam and the image quality is amazing for this price range.  You may as well go with a camera that shoots HD or HDV in this case as long as your computer can handle it.  All you really need is 2gb ram and a decent processor.  Also, Canon is coming out with the HV-40 so maybe that will reduce the price of the HV-30 for you in Denmark.

Also, smaller isn't always better when it comes to video cameras.  With loss of size often comes loss of features.

Hope that helps

Thanks for taking your time and putting an effort in helping me mate, really appreciated !

As for the HV-30 i saw some footage taken with it - For my untrained video eye it appeared crystalclear and crispy, which was why i considered it even thou it's very pricy here in Denmark compared to the states :(

Think I'm gonna look at ebay for some good deals on it, and hope i won't get caught when it get shipped into the country so i won't have to pay those silly skyhigh taxes :b

Thanks mate!
