So i'm going to CU boulder right now and doing film as my major. One thing I'm trying to decide is whether it would be better to stick with the BA or go for the BFA. The BFA is noticeably more expensive but the classes will be more fun, but how much more beneficial will it be to graduate with a BFA rather than a BA?

if anything, i'd say less beneficial.

but thats because i'm too 'realistic'... i figure people going through for things like film, i bet a lot of them just get 'normal' jobs afterwards.  sure there are probably at least half that really do get into arts related carreers, but i think a ba gets just as much if not more respect from people who don't really know the difference.

like any of my bosses... 2 guys come to get a job... one has a ba, the other a bachelor of fine art... all the old guys would assume you spent 3-4 years painting pictures with a bfa. so they probably would go for the ba, even though it could have been a year less time and less cost acosoiated.

just how serious are you about film?  do you already have a portfolio and know its what you want to do, or is it just something that interests you?

You are getting a degree from CU.  The worlds most expensive piece of toilet paper.  I would suggest getting the cheaper BA.
Hope:
everything will be okay in the end.
if it is not okay, then it is not the end.

I was gonna say, transfer to Metro.

If you're any good, where your degree comes from wont mean shit.
Dirty, but invigorating.
With a pinch of depression, but a heaping spoonful of arrogance.

I don't have a portfolio. Ideally, I do wanna work in the film industry, just not sure exactly what I plan on doing with it. What i was thinking of doing was trying to get into the BFA and if i don't get accepted then I'l just do the BA

might be worthwhile... i did the same thing at your age by applying to more places/programs.

good luck with it.  either way, college/university is all what you make it.  you can have fun doing any program, and also, just because its what you started taking, doesn't mean its what you have to finish with.

That's kinda true, but if you have a degree from some of the top schools, the HR person in charge of hiring will have their eyes light up when they see you got a degree from like Harvard or MIT or some other place.
