The last 9 weeks i have not smoked marijuana because of the distinct possibility of getting a drug test when i start my internship this week, I had that drug test today and now cannot by law of the company, have another test for six months Needless to say I just smoked six bowls of african wild man and am having a great time. Why isnt this shit legal yet...

why?

drug conglomerates would lose profits due to medicinal properties of a plant that literally anyone can grow themselves...not to mention the numerous amount of their current products that would be slowly rendered obsolete due to inevitable further research about the real medicinal potential of cannabis (i am of the mind that the true potential of cannabis has not yet been studied in earnest, due to a fervent anti-marijuana movement in North American law enforcement communities, that holds much influence over government agencies devoted to research of illegal drugs).

I feel your pain brudda. I ended the 3 year, every day streak, because I have a polygraph and extensive drug screening test comming up shortly, for my state Corrections exam. Somehow I get the feeling that they can drug test me whenever the feel like it however, being as it's Law Enforcement...

It's just not fair to be a Hippie nowadays.

Plus the USA would bank in taxes from the sale of marijuana if it WERE legalized. Just like any other mind enhancment, you'de prolly need a License to sell/Grow, pay federal and state taxes, import taxes, and such things like those.

Sorry, I didn't go read through all the old posts to try and revive one that fits. Its not like weve got anything better to talk about. Also, I dont think I ever started a pro-weed thread before, and I only smoke once every few months to celebrate some new accomplishment or something.

well, for one, the thread that they are reffering to was started the day prior to this one, so reviving probably isn't the best word... in fact, i'm pretty sure it was the thread located right below yours when you made it.

second... yeah... not sure why it hasn't been legalized or at least decriminalized everywhere,

you are close, but not quite bang on.  north american pharms are only a small fraction of such interests.  globally there is a huge pharm market and industry, many of which continue to research the applications of cannabis derived compounds.

there are many companies conducting long term and far reaching test groups for those suffering MS, chemotherapy, glaucoma and so on and so on.... each ailment has a number of companies considering it, each company with a number of products being tested, each product with a number of test groups.

of course as per america, such R&D is inihibited by the necessity of tight regulation, license issuance and other safe guards;  but it is lacking in logic to presume that the drug conglomerates who would likely profit the most from cannabis legalisation are actively trying to inhibit it.

now if you would consider how cannabis consumption would directly cause a reduction in tobacco cartel profitability; would provide a tremendous export commodity for down trodden south american and asian nations; not to mention how the wealth of cannabis derived by-products to the narcotic elements, such as the fibre for paper and rope production.... well you begin to appreciate a broader sense for why this bogus and inconsistent prohibition remains.

and then of course you can also look at the revenue created thru the fees for R&D license applications and the fines handed out for possession / dealing and legal fees etc.....

law is a bidnis innit?  keep your profits up and the competitors down.

i know you told me your opinon why the laws are there hater... but i still have to think the government and/or pharmecuticals could spin it in such a way that they can make it incredibly profitable to overcome any of those pitfalls you mention... should just take cooperation and some business sense.

though i do admit.. both seem lacking on the governments end lately.

the ways that those that fight for legalization just baffle me sometimes.  Like the public smoke outs in peaceful protest!  Like i it is ever legalized smoking it in public would be as well.  I can't walk down the street with a 40 in my hand taking swigs off of that.  Going for pure unrestricted legalization is the downfall of this movement.  it's like those for 100% gun rights for everyone vs. 100% gun control neither side will ever win.

everything will be okay in the end.

You guys must come to South Africa sometime. Although it's illegal there too, it's also very easy to get, but if I told you how much you would pay for it, you'd shit a cinder block. The quality is also world class, Malawi Gold, Lesotho Gold, Durban poison, Swazi Gold and 'Rooi baard' or, Red Beard,to name a few. Start in Cape Town at any of the backpackers in Long Street, and smoke your way around the country from there.

It was kinda wierd being in Amsterdam and watching a guy light a blunt in McDonalds, they have indoor smoking sections everywhere, or watching another guy light up on a bench in the city square right next to a few cops.

i heard they were actually going to try and do the smoking ban at restaurants in amsterdam like they have in most of north america.  that would be a shame due to the implications involved.  i mean, no weed in the cafes in amsterdam? i've always felt it should be the choice of the owner/operator whether smoking should be allowed....

anywho... sean, i smoked with a couple s.africans and they combined it with so much tobacco it sucked.  the weed you speak of, do you know if they do the same?

I've been reading that both Oregon and California are looking at legalizing weed. Something about it being the biggest cash crop in both states.....if it's legal it can have the shit taxed out of it, that should make state government happy.

You buy the weed pure, but guys mix it to keep it burning. How much you mix is up to you. I have smoked pure, but you need to light it after each pull, or just smoke the J continuously until it's finished.....

Not necessarily. Try leaving your bag open (I'm assuming the weed comes in a ziploc bag) for a day or so, to dry it out a bit, then joints are easy to stub out and save for later....they stink though.

why not try rolling smaller joints and smoking them whole? or try blunts?

you wanna know why we dont have it legalized yet? its because of our dumbshit president that all of you voted for saying he would change everything and make it all better. talk about a load of bull shit. our economy is still in the shitter and doesent look like its getting better anytime soon. bad shit happens when you put a black democrat in office man. right now he is trying to get rid of medical marijuana in all 50 states saying its is a drag on our economy. meaning that if it does pass(and it just might) the penalty for possesion would be raised signifacintly. because of all the dipshit voters we know are at a high risk of being pushed backwards in our fight for cannabis. so all i have to say after that is FUCK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, all the president needs to do is wave his presidential magic wand and all the shit that built up over decades of institutionalized greed will just disappear.

I blame a president for shit that they actually have a hand in doing,  starting a war.  Fixing the economy is a huge problem that doesn't just go away with a few re-structuring policies. While i am not impressed with a lot of Obama's stances, i can't blame it on him.

Blame the people that started it.  Rich, white dudes in suits.

Fucker.

But back to the topic at hand,

I found it very amusing here in Japan to walk into a convenience store only to be greeted by a "Negative Health Effects of Marijuana" poster by the register.  In a store that sells both alcohol and cigarettes.  Weird.

My dandy voice makes the most anti-choice grannies' panies moist!

I blame religion. Weed opens the mind, and religious leaders obviously don't want that.

Nah, but seriously I think weed came a few hundred years too late. If colombus had celebrated finding America with a spliff and alcohol had come into western society in the 60s you can be damn sure it would be the other way around and alcohol would be the illegal substance. For fear of not being PC, noone dares to change it.

Drugs are bad mmkay. I get high on life. By life I mean mids usually but I crave da KB.

I still meet people that insist it's a gateway drug, disregarding the fact that I don't do anything else except drink great beer and have for 18 years now. If people want to piss their life away, they will find the means. Whether that be heroin or online pron, does it really matter? Not my problem. Go kill yourself, but leave the herbage please.
