this is probably completely irrelevant to their products now, but my boy busted his completely about 10 years ago.  It broke right in front of his front binding after some bad landings.  They use to be very cheap and now I see them listed with rediculous prices.

i wonder... i talked to an australian guy at a snowboard premier about their boards. he had good things to say, but then again he was a salesman. If i try a new board anytime soon, nidecker is on the top of the list.
its a matter of lookin at that jump and sayin, hey bud, lets party

Maybe if he learned how to ride his boards wouldn't break.

i rode a megalight last year, it was a good board, maybe a bit too soft for a freeride board, but handled all terrain better than i expected for a tapered ride.

Yeah I am sure his lack of skill contributed to the board breaking, but he really was not getting much air.  As I stated it was along time ago and their products are probably more durable now.  Shit i just blew out an edge on my burton board and I dont even know when it happened.  Probably because I suck too.

I'll tell you what happened.

You were out riding along listening to your music.  Probably had some Kylie Minogue or Fall out boy or something stupid like that.  Anyways you're rocking out and doing your thing bobbing your head feeling the flow.  You know "just riding along" then out of no where you looked down and were like, "What the fuck?"  Yeah thats when you noticed that your edge was just blown out and you're thinking to yourself what the hell how can I just ride along and this edge blew out god damn pieces of shit this better be covered on warranty.  In your mind you're thinking damn I was just riding along and the fucking thing broke I hate you Burton I hate you.

Or plain and simple you hit a fucking rock from riding exposed areas.  You take your pick.

You are sure quick to jump to conclusions about my friend and my riding.  I have never listened to music while riding and was not blaming burton for anything.  I probably did hit a rock or caught an edge on a rail.  I have been riding this board for 5-6 years so I doubt there is a warranty anyway.  In fact I just bought another burton to replace it along with a flow.  These new board are suppose to be rock proof.

I agree.  Sorry to fuck up your post.  I just thought I would throw out my experience with nidecker durability, but like I said originally that was a long ass time ago.

Then what did it have to offer to his original question.

I had a nidecker board for 5 years. While my friends changed their board once or twice in the meantime, mine was still holding up. The base especially is pretty tough!

Second of all, nidecker came up with some features that I only see now in other companies as "the new cool thing". For example the rubber plate under the bindings. Did you know that nidecker tried the reverse camber like 10 years ago? but they all thought they were crazy? 2 years ago the buzz was all about less vibrations in the board.. I have a nidecker catalogue from 5 years ago where they were explaining the tests they did with some university on a board against this "side-effect" ..

so they may not be so "cool" as other brands in some peoples' oppinon.. but for the people that dont care bout that nidecker is pretty solid!
