if the job is good enough that you would do the drug test, do it and hope.  if the job is crap... tell em, 'i don't need to write no test to tell you i do drugs' and fuck off.

 

what are your other choices?... show up on a monday with a shaved head?  that wouldn't look guilty.

haha yea, i was a heavy smoker up until a few mos ago so i know it would def show up but i was just wondering what the policy was regarding how recently i smoked for it to be considered a failure or is it a failure if it shows up at all (doesn't seem fair since most guys hairs would have grown out by now).

 

specialk, it was for a loan assistant position for a mortgage company. and the first time, it was for a legal assistant position for a financial company. both times, i was temping and they wanted to offer me a perm position. anyways, i decided to turn the offer down so now i'm back on the job hunt. i applied for a position at an "alternative care" clinic (medical marijuana), how cool would that be if i got it? haha wish me luck!

I can say first hand that sometimes things just work out. I was looking to get a real job some time ago, and figured i would be tested so got one of the fake urine deals. Thinking i was in the clear i continued to go about my normal business. One day while at the job i got a small heads up it would be a hair test. My stomach dropped. I went out and bought one of the shampoo's, but considering it had only been a couple weeks since i smoked that shit totally DID NOT work. However it was very effective at getting the skin to peal off of my hands.... Not saying the stuff doesnt work at all, but from my experience it does not work with any recent activity. Week or so later i got a call from the doc telling me i tested positive. Figuring it was the right thing to do i called my employer and set up a meeting to discuss the results, explained to them "it was something of the past and they wouldnt have to worry about it in the future." Part of it was the way i handled the situation, part of it was sweet performance i was already giving them, but they let me keep my job. So you never know, sometimes shit just works out. So being that i can expect another test at any given time i dont smoke anymore, and it sucks.....badly, but in the grand scheme of things it is a small price to pay for salary, 401k, insurance, and a serious career opportunity. At least drinking is still legal......

Some things to keep in mind:

1. Sorry SnowQueen but you dont have a clue. No way you are going to test positive from second hand unless you were in an ungodly situation like what iDShaDoW was saying... However the hair tests are really rare because they are expensive, you are right about that.

2. THC is stored in your fat cells. This means someone shall we say "husky" is going to have a harder time cleaning out that someone who is a bean pole.

3. Its all relative to usage. If you smoke everyday it is going to take 4-6 weeks to get it out of your system for a urine test. I have heard significantly longer than 3 months for the hair, but i truely dont know. If you only smoke once in a blue moon it could be out of your system in a week or two for urine, and probably 3 months...maybe a little less (but dont hold me to it) for hair.

Its all just a matter of how you want to go about it....
