Hope:
everything will be okay in the end.
if it is not okay, then it is not the end.

do you know how well-respected the shoe-thrower is in the middle east? kind of says a lot about how they view your country over in that part of the world. although who can blame them, really...

"they don't like us! we'd better invade them!"

typical right wing neo-con attitude. the world has moved on from you and your bankrupt ideology. move along now, let the grown-ups talk.

why should i or anyone not in the middle-east care how respected the shoe-thrower is in the middle-east.  I don't care, i think he's an idiot for throwing his shoes.  i didn't like that he threw his shoe at my president, I'd rather he just yelled something or organized a protest....but throwing your shoes?  I understand it was the only 'weapon' he felt he had, but when you attack someone they shouldn't be laughing at you when you're done.  I'm sorry but 2 shoes thrown, 2 thrown shoes that missed, one american president laughing at you.....that's a fail, man.  the man has balls, I'll give him that much, but it's still a fail.

you seem to have a serious lack of understanding, if you think throwing a shoe is 'idiotic', whilst in the same breath, suggest he should have organises a protest instead.

shoe throwing WAS AN ACT OF PROTEST.  the fact that the thrower now enjoys 'pop stardom' because of it, illustrates the support he has, because given the chance they would do the same thing.  this is a collective voice and thus, you have the 'protest' you claim to wish to see....

it is up to you, to come to terms with the fact that it was your ex-president who was the target of such protestations, which is probably your true complaint, rather than the method of protestation.

an act of protest is to publicise and perpetuate an opinion.  that you are talking about the person and others more intellectually inclined to genuinely consider his motivations, suggest that his act was anthing but a fail.  this thread proves how wrong your conclusion is.

wow a 4 second protest....I'm impressed.  and given the chance....noone else did it.  by your theory anyone in the room who didn't like bush should have started throwing their shoes....noone did.  by your theory of 'protest' people could have started throwing their shoes at anything american as a symbol of support for shoe-thrower and in protest of bush....the media would love that and yet...nothing.  instead of joining his shoe-throwing protest of america's invasion of Iraq, ousting of it's dictator and trying to bring peace....someone is offering his daughter.  wow, how perfectly disappointing.  they could have used his 'protest' to launch larger protests, but it was business as usual.  they could have used him as a beacon of hope, a rallying cry to bring more iraqis to the anti-american cause...they didn't even try.  so perhaps this should go down as a failure of the local leaders of anti-american or at least anti-bush movements to build on mr shoe throwers protest.

what if noone joined Dr King jr, they just heaped praise on him and offered their daughters?  What if someone had thrown their shoe at the berlin wall and was praised for his action and nothing else was done?

Praise the guy if you want.  If you agree with his 'protest', great that's your right.  But don't let it end there, build on it.  Rally people to the cause and keep it going, make sure he's there in the front of it all and keep throwing shoes.  but they haven't.  so maybe the fail belongs to those who have praised but not joined him.

wow a 4 second protest....

which lives on today in places like this ineffectual forum, but also in other locales, to the extent of provoking the offering of daughters as brides!!!

more than 4 seconds, thanks in part to you!  such is its sustainence!

they could have used him as a beacon of hope, a rallying cry to bring more iraqis to the anti-american cause...they didn't even try.

and yet here it is, being discussed (such as it is) in the public domain.  it seems that the 4 seconds of airbourne foot wear has ensured much, the entire world over!

it is strange that you are blind to this, when you are a part of it!

Rally people to the cause and keep it going, make sure he's there in the front of it all and keep throwing shoes.

it seems that you miss the point completely.  a clue:  what was the name of the shoe thrower?
