Hey

Im just looking for other peoples feedback on 2009 boots. LOADS of my friends (most of whom are instructors) are complaining about how quick their boots have packed out. All brands, all types, all sizes. it just seems like its across the whole range this year.

I bought Burton Hails in July in New Zealand and rode them for about 60 days. After about 30 days they were already peeling, letting in water and completely packed out. I suffered the pain for another 30 or so days as I didnt have the money to replace them.

Then this season I bought Salomon Dialogues and now after just 15-20 days riding them they are packed out too. Its so annoying and disappointing not to mention the financial aspect of it all.

Whats the deal??? Do we have to buy boots that are 3 sizes too small and suffer terrible pain for about 3 weeks before they are ok. Or do we buy boots that fit really nice at the start and then completely pack out after 20 or so days.

Anyone else having similar problems?

i buy boots 1/2 size small. i started teaching snowboarding in 2000, that makes a huge impact on your boots because you go from riding every weekend like most people to riding every day for 5 and a half months. when you use your boots that much they are going to pack out faster than someone who dosent use them near that much. if they exploded on you are now 2 sizes too big take them back and say they are shit, a good shop and a good company will stand by their product and replace them if they are that new. i had a set of 32 peter line pro's and they packed out way too fast, within a month they were so big and i called 32 and told them what happened and they sent me out a new set of their teams because they didnt have any pl's left. i have had salomon malamutes for years now and i have only had to change out the insole, other than that the boots are still really good but i think this will be their last year.

My dialogue wides packed out already, but I bought them a full size to small. Having about a 13 foot I am happy about this. Next year I will go even smaller at this rate, I will no longer be on a wide board and that is ok with me either way.

Quit buying your boots too big.

I hate to tell you this but the average snowboard consumer rides less than 15 days a year so the boots are designed to last about 30 days.  That way, the average guy thinks that he got his moneys worth, but the manufacturers and retailers get to make more money by selling you a new pair of boots.

If you want them to last, consider getting a pair that is meant for a "serious" rider.  That means getting a stiffer boot that actually has some good support.  Boots like the F22,F24, Malamute, Synapse, Ion, Driver, etc. are a better bet for you.

Also, the worst thing you can do in a pair of snowboard boots is to walk around in them all day.  All of you lifties out there should buy some Sorels and keep your snowboard boots in good shape.

even salomon's low end used to be really well built and last a couple seasons...not now

salomon also bumped their sizes up by a half in the last couple of years.  I just got some new dialogues and the 10s are exactly the same size as the 10.5 I had before
