The size of your board is depending on your weight, so that would be useful :)

First off... how many times to do you intend to go boarding down there? I ask that because it might be better to rent the first time especially. Also what shoe size do you wear? (This might also push you to rent.) I wear size 13 boots and it find it hard getting a board big enough for my feet most of the time that I can jones with... I come pretty close to jones-ing with my (pun intended) Jeremy "Jones" snowboard but I still have my complaints about it. If you have a bigger foot than mine... than renting (no joke) is your best bet as you will need to find out what base width is big enough for your foot to no drag.
The last thing i said was important. Put it on your fridge.

like its been said already, your weight is going to be the main factor in the size of the board your going to need...next how big ur foot is, is going to determine how wide of a board u need so ur feet don't hang over...highth is going to play a small factor but it's not as important as ur weight... if its ur first time riding or if you don't ride that often i suggest rental like the other dude did... if you really want ur own gear wait till it gets to be towards the end of the season when there's alot of big sales going on... i got my first board, bindings, and boots for around $350 when a local store was having a blowout sale at the end of the season

as for u, here's a helpful site my friend... Happy Riding!http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/size-guide.htm
