I know I will have to check my snowboard when I take a flight. So what kind of case do you put it in? I have a crappy clear flimsy case but I'm scared that my bindings and snowboard will get beaten up in it. Is there anything out that exist for snowboards that's hard and will protect it in travel?

A fully padded snowboard bag from a company like OGIO.
Etiquette? Is that some sort of toilet paper?
Ha! Ha! I'm on Twitter!

Meh. I prefer my way.
Get a non-padded bag that's rated to store at least 2 snowboards+bindings, then wrap your snowboard with your jacket and pants. You fit all your equipment in the bag and it won't ruin your board.

i agree with oddity. wrap your board with your base layer snow jacket and pants. i flew with my board on 4 different flights and nothing happened. also unscrew your bindings andeverything will be fine

If you don't mind me asking, why would you suggest to unscrew the bindings? I don't recall hearing this approach before..

Ah, it's too much work, I just pad everything with my coats and pants. Been through drunken hell and back, never had any damage.

i personally would never go with a non-padded bag again, not after alaska airlines broke the nose of my board, even though it was padded by my clothes. go with a padded board bag AND wrap your stuff with your clothes. if you want to go super protective there's a company that  makes these things called sport tubes, it's hard plastic extendable tube. they make them for snowboards, skiis, or golf clubs.
