DARK STAR ORCHESTRA
Whether you’re a Deadhead who has seen countless Grateful Dead concerts or you never had an opportunity to see the original Dead lineup live, DARK STAR ORCHESTRA can and will fulfill your need to see a Grateful Dead show.  This tribute band is known for their extraordinarily faithful renditions of not just individual Grateful Dead songs, but entire Dead concerts.  While they have been known to play some Dead song performances quite accurately, they also perpetuate the spirit of the Grateful Dead by improvising or jamming on songs and sometimes entire setlists, much the way that the original band transported audiences into unknown musical dimensions throughout their career.

DSO concerts have been hailed as “the next best thing to being there,” due in part to the band’s impeccable musicianship and attention to detail.  In order to recreate the sound from a specific Dead concert, DSO uses a wide variety of stage positioning, vocal arrangements, guitars, amps, and other instruments to mimic the sound produced by the Dead’s personnel and equipment of choice during that particular era.  DSO has a jam-packed tour schedule (no pun intended) and have been known to collaborate with former Grateful Dead members, including Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann.

Depending on the date of the specific concert rendition, fans could hear such 60’s classics as DSO’s namesake track “Dark Star” and “Beat It On Down the Line”; early 70’s favorites including “Casey Jones”, “Sugar Magnolia”, “Friend of the Devil” and “Truckin’”; or late 70’s-80’s hits “Fire on the Mountain” and “Touch of Grey”.
