I have a pair of soft boots and i've been ridding them for 2 yrs, usually my legs, particularly shins and calf muscle are in constant pain from riding. Yesterday, they hurt but were bareable to ride on and I rode for like 4 hrs and after like 20 min, the pain went away as usual.

So today I go again and I used my stiff pair of boots which are like 2x as stiff and I seriously couldn't even ride down the mtn bc of the pain. I dislocated my shoulder and this was so much worse. At one point on the lift it felt like my right foot was going numb and I could feel like a tingling in my foot. After I got off that lift and rode down hoping it would go away, my foot started shaking like crazy. I would imagine the other one would have too but it was still in the binding.

I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem and how they fixed it. After I took the boots off and put shoes on, everything was fine. It's weird though because I can run and jump and do everything else.

If your foot starts tingling like that it's mostly an indication that it's starting to sleep (not sure if this is correct English, I'm talking about the thing that happens when the blood doesn't get to your foot).

I used to have this sometimes when I was still skiing, loosening up the boot solved the problem.

yeah, the boot actually was kinda loose, i was also wearing ski socks and thermals tucked down in the boot so there was cushion

I have the same problem. Which boots have the smallest liner and opening at the top?

its leg burn, everyone gets it.  I usually loosen the boots up a bit to help but theres not much you can do.  Changing the holes on my ankle strap so it grabbed higher on my boot also helped a bit because when you go heelside your ankle strap pushes so hard against your upper foot you can acually reduce circulation while on edge.
Shut up and Ride.

try pulling your thermals out of your boots. not a good idea to have anything in your boots other than your feet and one pair of socks. it could be a weird pressure point thing going on from having your thermals tucked in, which could cut off circulation and cause your foot to go to sleep.

i thought maybe there was some kind of shit built up in my muscles so yesterday i tried rubbing it with something hard to get it loosened up.. kind of feels better today

i guess well see next time i go boarding..

Hey Dan
I have the exact same problem. =S  It is so horrible cuz ur trying to have a good time, but your in pain!
Do you have a high arched foot? i think i do and I also feel pressure on the top of my foot as well as the other problems u have.
It's really frustrating and I want to get a new pair of boots but I'm probably going to end up with the same problem if I dont figure out whats causing it.
Let me know if you figure it out

Def pull your thermals out and maybe go with a thinner sock. leg burn happens, when i get it (usually on the lift) support your board with your unstrapped foot and flex your foot up and down, some old timer taught me that in whistler. and make sure your boots arent too tight. maybe try doing calf excersises too and drink more water

You don't have flat feet do you?  Sometimes that pain comes from the arches in the boots being too high for your feet - when your feet hate you, your legs/calfs/knees are soon to follow.

give yourself a week or so off of riding and let you leg recover. Go back out in your stiffer boots, make sure you leave the bottom half of the boot loosish and the top half nice and tight for support. One pair of socks, keep your thermals out of the boots. Also go out and buy some decent footbeds and replace the stock ones that came with your boots

If all else fails, just drink.  Heavily.
