Hi,
I am thinking about going to austria first week of feb...maybe Soll or Westendorf...can anyone tell me if there's much snow there at the mo?
Has it snowed at all over Christmas?

Thanks all!

Im sure our resident Austrian and expert on the place will see this mesage soon, but till she appears I would recomend checking out snowforcast.com, last report i got from Seefeld area was they have had some reasonable good snowfall, though that is in a different valley and much closer to Innsbruk, Soll and Westendorf are further away so not sure on how they stand for conditions.

Sorry I could not be much more help.

Cool

Cheers Brabbl, knew you would be of more help than I, didnt realise they were both in the Tyrol though, thought they were further away from Seefeld.
Your right though the alpes are prety snowsure, have pnly once been when there was not much snow and that was the first time I ever boarded but it was in the April back then, and still had enough to enjoy ourselves.

ischgl is a huge resort in tyrol dante! every season i´m there for one week in april. there are a lot of slopes but for me ischgl is one of the best freeride resorts in austria! and i cant wait til im there in mid of april this year!

but ischgl is also besides snowboarding a big party town and not very cheap....

if you ever have the possibility go to ischgl and check it out. you won´t regret :-)

does Ischgl have a park at all? I've heard great things about the freeriding there.. so if there is a decent park, I might have to look at a trip soon!

hey gezsweet, ischgl has a big park, i´m not a parkrider but i think it´s a good park. normally it has big jumps and also beginner jumps, rails, ....

i´m going to ischgl every season to go freeriding. it´s a huge resort and it´s on the boarder to switzerland. the boarder is just on the top of the mountain where you leave the chairlift. on the swiss side is another park but smaller.

i just can tell everybody: go to ischgl and check it out

just wanted to upload few pix from ischgl in april 2008 but sorry i can´t. it seems to be a bug on this site which don´t let me upload new pix in my gallery. but feel free to check out my galleries, there are some older pix from ischgl.

I think everyone is having that problem with uploading pics Brabbl, it certainly sounds like a resort forth going to, though i checked prices and its quite a bit more than some others so wont be going this year, might look at it next season when I have more money, whats it like for begginers and families?

i´ll be there in april for one week like every year. ischgl is a more expensive resort than others BUT if you´re going at the end of season - like april - you´ll have enough snow and it will be cheaper.

if someone of you guys is there from 13th to 19th april - just tell me

^^^ I might have to come stalk you

I'll let you know Dante. I'm hoping to go to Ischgl and either Japan or Canada next winter. would be good to ride with people from this site, if possible.

Sounds cool, I was just talking about Japan myself earlier today, certainly another place on my list of where I want to go, there and chile.

Might be worth us looking at getting a load of us Euro borders together for an end of season sesion next year in april in Ischgl, though we will have varying abilities and styles will be kind of like what happened 4 or 5 years ago with Boardstupid and DarrenJ etc

well yeah 2005 i organised the first european sb.com meeting. we´ve been in laax in switzerland for 1 week! it was sooo much fun. i opened a special profile on here called "euros_meets". there you can check out who was there.
would be cool to meet some european snowboarders again.

Well I think Ischgl at the end of the season 2010 would be a great idea and gives us plenty of time to get people together

Will have to put up a message on here, at probably give people a choice of locations and date, then start the ball rolling, I will talk to some of the others (older members who I still talk to)

If you are able to span the whole area of the apls then I would go for a bit of everything. So think about France and Swiss as well. Maybe Italy.

To be honest, in my opinion there aren't a lot of good resorts in Germany. There are a lot of good ones in Austria, Swiss and France and a few in Italy.

I don't know about future locations for the Olympics but if you want the best resorts, every country has one :)
