I always end up riding and traveling alone because all my friends are either to broke or don't have enough vacation to do anything meaningful.

Anyone else have this issue, what do you do?

I refuse to date anyone that doesn’t ride, camp or backpack and love dogs so I guess I'm screwed huh anyway I guess I'm just venting because it's so f'ing cold(high of 2~f Monday) and I get tired or riding resorts that are only 1\2 open and are giant f'ing ice fields.

ha, i've got some friends that i'd actually rather not ride with when they decide to come and bitch about drives and stuff once another person or two decides that they also wanna come along.

^^Exactly!!!

Up until a couple of years ago, I never went riding with anybody. None of my friends wanted to do anything but drink and watch TV. So, I moved and made new friends. I would take a guess and say within the last year alone, I have met and ridin with at least 50 people... probably about 20 of them being from this website.

Just get out, and try and make connections. Websites, ride share programs, friends of friends...I am pretty sure you are not the only one in your boat. You'll probably be surprised how many other people share your passion, and are looking to hook up with riding partners.

it would be easier too if you lived in a slightly better location.

i was always a ride by myself guy.. worked different hours than most others, like to do what i wanted when i wanted... i still do, but now i've found some friends and a lady-friend who are great to ride with... put up with my crap, push me to ride a little harder everytime and are a blast to hang around... many i've met on this site actually...

before riding with others, i found i progressed slowly.  once i have others to ride with, i find i'm trying new things and becoming a better rider.

good luck!  don't give up finding others to ride with, but in the meantime, enjoy yourself out there.

That is the same reason I just got online and found this site. I have plenty of friends here in Texas but they are always full of excuses. I'm ready to go and it looks like I will be heading out alone.

I hear you. I am one of a few South Africans who has been fortunate enough to discover snowboarding, and I'm in love with it. Been trying to inspire local friends, but they can't relate. The only people who can relate are the foreign tourists I meet in SA who have done it. So, I'm on my way to Canada in a few short weeks to ride Mt Washington, and hopefully Whistler, if I think I can afford it.
Chech out the Mt Wash meet thread in general.

So in other words I'm hoping to meet and ride with as many people as possible who are as much in love with snowboarding as I am!

I was in the same boat with snowboarding... when I first started the people that snowboarded didn't want anything to do with me because they were afraid they would have to babysit me and the ones that didn't snowboard couldn't care less about it.  So I started driving to the hill (3hrs one way) on my own.  Then I started flying to CO on my own and then I found this website and now I have many friends that ride in the midwest and Colorado...

This wknd I didnt feel like driving anywhere and it dumped about a foot of snow, so I got in my car and drove 5 mins to the forest preserve where I hiked and met more people...

If you get out there, you'll eventually meet people.

I still don't have travel buddies though so I normally go to other states/countries by myself.  Last year, I went to Europe and SE Asia for a few months; it was the best trip I ever went on.  In a way, I like going by myself because I have a freedom to do whatever I want and I meet more people.  I think if you go with friends you'll have a great time but you won't be so open to other people and you'll be locked in to your own group... not a bad thing just different.

Also, the dating pool has definitely shrunk since I figured out what makes my boat float but I go with the flow...  being single definitely has it's perks :)

This is it exactly, now that I'm riding twice a week I'm progressing pretty good again but if I was around someone that could ride worth a shit then I know I could move faster.

well at least you have friends. I haven't really been able to make friends since moving to CO, and the ones I've made don't even ride. Boulder just isn't my thing.

you gotta find younger friends.  Thats what I did.  I met these 24 yo twins over the summer.  it made me a better rider as thay are fiercely competetive with each other.  Now i am in the park again.  They are making me feel young again.  (i know this sounds really gay but )  all my friends stopped doing anything active 5/8 years ago.  I have a wakeboard boat and now they don't even come on the boat for ballast as it is too much work and is not comfy enough for then WTF.  just make new friends don't be afraid.
