im wanting to get into snowboard filming, problem is i dont have a camcorder... any suggestions on a video camera between $500 - 1100. Should i get a mini dv, hard disk or one of the hd camcorders? would you suggest sony, canon or pansonic? im thinking about getting the sony HDR SR12 with a wide angle or fisheye lens to get started with. just hit me up if you got something in mind.

If you can hook it up i'd suggest a dvx100..but they're a little out of your price range. They're a great all around camera.  For lower end prosumer look into the sony dsr-pd series as well as the sony vx series (ie vx1000/vx2000) if you can find one.

Dont bother with HD, buy used off ebay, something like a GL2 would suit you best, dont bother with a VX1000 shit is out-dated like a mother fucker, if you want sony go Vx2000 and up.
