I figured I'd start this thread for people to use to update on the status of the runs at Wilmot. I usually have my Blackberry and my laptop on me, so I can do so right from the hill - like now.

Last night when the snow was falling and the temps were warm the conditions were perfect. Today not so much. So...

Dec 1- 1:30pm

Hard packed groomed surface with random snow drifts from the wind. Whatever wet snow fell yesterday froze with the colder temps today. They haev a small rail and some small boxes set up on Broadway other than that, no park features elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend coming out today unless the temps get closer to the freezing point or the sun comes out to soften up the snow.

As I left today they were blowing snow on Superior and Exhibition which helped to soak some of the moisture out of the hard pack and make it softer. I'm guessing it should be pretty decent riding tomorrow.

IDK about wilmot, but alpine owned today.  nothing but soft powder everywhere.  made the park more enjoyable.

Was there yesterday, but  not 'till later at night. I heard it was nice and soft during the day, but when I got there it was already freezing out and once again the snow turned to a pretty solid hardpack. Then they started blowing snow right on the Exhibition chairlift, so we moved over to Broadway to tool around there. What do they do? Turn the snow blowers on  the Broadway lift as well. They aimed them just perfectly so that they were spraying you pretty good as you were riding up. We went to complain, and they said they'd move them but they didn't. Then it got to the point where the snow would ice up the base of your board and you couldn't even get off the lift because it was like trying to slide on sandpaper. After we all took face plants coming off the lift on separate occasions and watched others do it, we decided to turn the snow guns off ourselves. Anyway, long story short everyone was totally cool about it except for the management and the cops that they called on us later. What a joke.

I'll let you know if any of that snow they were blowing helped today ;)

Wilmot had 10 runs open today with 4 lifts running. The quad was pretty packed, as was the lift near the beginner hill. The two lifts to the right of the quad were pretty decent with short lines. Snow is not bad, but the strong winds today blew some of it off to reveal icy spots on some runs. It all depends on where you ride. Definitely need a colder temp wax this weekend. I mistakenly used Swix CH8 and it was alright during the day, but after the sun set it got worse and worse. Probably a CH7 or better yet, CH6 for this snow.

10 runs open again today and all the snow they've been blowing has helped to get rid of the ice. Packed powder today everywhere made for great riding. They're blowing snow full force on Inspiration, Bunny Heaven and Hideaway now so they should start shaping the terrain park this week. They've been also blowing a bit around State Line and Fanny Hill so that side of the hill should open soon as well. I'm guessing they'll be 100% open by next weekend.

The terrain park also got some new boxes for this year, so I can't wait for them to get them installed. Wilmot always had a ton of rails, but I'm not a fan so I'm excited for the new boxes. According to their website they are:

21' Rainbow Box

34' Rainbow Box w/Whale Tail

22' S-Box

(2) 21' C-Box

Still got the Miata, never really got around to selling it.

We'll see how the hill shapes up after all this rain. I'll be there Tuesday to check it out.

Was out there last night to enjoy the fresh snow. There wasn't any ice to speak of, but the ground was packed pretty solid under the fresh powder. Didn't pay attention to how many runs were open, but I think it was 9 or 10. They had a box, a rail, and a c-box on Bunny Heaven. They lost some base from the rain storms last weekend and ended up doing some restructuring, so the the black runs out by the quad have a bit more terrain features with rollers and dropoffs and such than usual. That gentle roller at the end of Superior is now a lot more pronounced and you can get a LOT of air if you hit it right. I was easily clearing 30-35 feet distance. They're also still blowing heavy around State Line. I'll probably be back out there again tomorrow night.

Hill was pretty packed today. Powder was nice in the morning, but got tracked out really quick. It was pretty choppy until the afternooon/evening when things finally started to smooth out. Wilmot is now 100% open. No real kickers yet, but there are 3 rollers, a C-box, a flat rail, a flat-down box, and a rainbow box with the whale tail in the terrain park. There may have been a few other features but I was only there for one run. The lines for the lift were rediculous so I just went to other runs.

Snow is great! I expect it to be stupid packed tomorrow, but conditions are great.

Snow was fantastic this morning. Nice and soft but as the day progressed the temperatures fell and you can tell the snow was starting to firm up. I'm guessing tomorrow there will be some pretty hard packed snow, but it's not too bad.

Pretty much all the features are on Hideaway. There's a tiny roller at the top with a flat rail to the right of it, then there's a C-box, a huge roller with a flat-down box to the right of it and a rainbow rail with the whale tail to the left, then there is a flat box on the left and a battleship rail to the right of it, and another small roller at the very bottom.

Bunny Glen has a small jump, not sure what to make of it. Looks like a table, there's no kicker on it though. There is also a small (but tall) rail and a small 20-25ft table with a kicker at the bottom, but it is positioned at a weird angle so it's tough to get enough speed to clear it unless you gun for it and miss all the other features on the way down. Looks like they're trying to pack up some snow against the trees there on Bunny Glen like they did last year so you can ride up those as well.

Bunny Heaven doesn't have any jibs, just some really tiny rollers here and there that you can learn to practice jumps on I guess if you're still learning to do that.

January 2nd is today? Is the server messing up times again?

Very packed out there today, I expect it to be packed tomorrow as well until the freezing rain arrives.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. There must've been an ambulance coming and going every half hour at Wilmot today. Sometimes they'd get backed up behind each other. It was unreal. All the ice from last weekend's rains is crumbling away under all the traffic and you end up with that really fine granulated icy surface. Feels just like machine groomed snow. It's VERY fast and at first feels soft. You don't have to go too deep to hit the remaining ice layer though. On some of my deeper carves I could feel the board give up and start sliding instead of gripping. I didn't try to do anything exciting simply because watching all the people get taken away on stretchers was pretty sobering. There's definitely ice under that fast snow. Maybe towards the end of the day as temps warm it will soften up a bit.

Other than that, the park is growing. Bunny Heaven now has a series of tiny rollers, each one bigger and bigger as you go down.  I didn't really go in the terrain park because of the crowds, but I did see that they finally built up a kicker on that big roller so I assume you can finally get some big air there. But again, be careful. Check out the landing first make sure it's not ice.

conditions were great yesterday, there was ice after some kickers and rails but that is expected
the snow stayed fluffy and the temp stayed below freezing all was good
unfortunately it started raining and freezing drizzle at night so conditions will be icy

This winter started out so great. What happened?

Did you hit the kicker that they built by the big roller? That jump looked so sweet from the lift. I can't wait for the holiday season to be over and the crowds to die down so I can go hit it.

the kicker is about a 10 footer, drop into about a 20 foot roller
they constantly change the features go on their website they have some pictures of the boxes but the park changes every day. they do have a rainbow rail w/whale tale out its pretty tight.

anything you can do i can do switch
