so i just got a pair of $250 burton snowboard pants but it seems kinda thin so I'm not sure if it'll be warm enough if i just weat it alone on the hills.  Do you guys usually wear anything else underneath in the relatively warm temperatures around here?

I usually just wear my Helly Hansen first layer.. or nothing if it's a little warmer (i.e. spring conditions). But I usually wear the layer just in case. My pants have vents so if it gets a little toasty I can always open them!

other than a couple socks into my underwear to make my package bigger, not too much...

i just wear a base layer pant or even just long underwear.  rarely are my legs too hot or cold.  though i make sure my pants have decent warmth.  oh, and i wear boxers under my base layer... i know some who don't, but this way i don't feel as dirty if i have to wear the base layer again without washing it.

Wait what? I just assumed that underpants went without saying... my base layer isn't the same as underwear! Weird.

Also, my pants aren't insulated and I'm still generally fine with just the base layer and my snowpants. Except I got a free pair of awesome insulated pants that I'm scared to try since they DON'T have vents.. makes no sense to me to have insulated pants and not have the option of cooling off!

coool...have never worn or even heard of base layer before so I guess i'm gonna have to shop for them now, =).  Any recommendation on brands and where I can get them?

I gotta get them for tomorrow by today and I dont' have that much time...the easiest would be going to a nearby sportchek but I'm not sure if they'lll have them.  Do you guys know if I can find them at sporting life boards/bikes on yonge?

yep, they'll have em.  they'll even have a selection.

personally, i'm not big on the marino wool stuff... or fleece.  i go for the tight stuff.  doesn't restrict at all and really seems to regulate body temp without making you clammy.

my top(as in shirt) baselayer is one from winners... think its bamboo or some kind of material.  i like.  pants, i was just going to buy some orage level 1 for 30 bucks as corbetts.  they have all that stuff on clearance.

as a tip... lots of the name brand outerwear companies make base layer stuff... but i sure as hell am not going to pay 75 each for pants and shirt so it can match my jacket.  especially since it doesn't seem to be any better than the 25 buck stuff. and make sure you try it on.  some companies have goofy necks for tops and have a 'capri' style pant... if you know you want that, cool.. if not, you get a suprise that first time you try it.

For the longest time I actually wore pjamma pants under it, hot red ones that said 'you make me melt'. Now I have a first layer that came with my 686 smarty pants, but if it's still cold I would throw on some thermal underwear.

undies, base layer, and impact shorts in the winter, undies and impact shorts in the spring time!

Army-issued Long johns, boxers (gotta keep the McNuggets warm) then a pair of Ripzone Snowpants. Top- Underarmour, T-shirt, Hoddy or jacket depending on weather.

I wear either tight first layers, made by Bula, Kombi or whatever from Winners or whatever they have.. I refuse to pay a lot for that..

Or sometimes I'll wear loose fleece pants, I've done fleece Pj pants before and that was comfy... they were the only thing I had left that was clean.

i fail to see how that is not answering the question... perhaps i'm blind, but isn't the question about what to wear under snowpants? and quite a few of us enjoy base layers? and we're talking about base layers and where to purchase them? or do you just not like mec?

i'm confused. and hungry. time to find food!

Winners never has anything in my size for base layer (only smalls) and nothing like snowboarding socks, at least the one I regular.

As for helmets, what is the battery life on the wireless stuff?
I know my bluetooth stereo headphones only last a couple of hours....which isn't not long enough for me :)
and for now I'm happy with the weight, but I didn't bother trying too much else since that would end up costing 3 or 4 times what I paid and being new to this I'm trying to keep costs with in reason.

An just so I don't stray to much from the original post.......
I wear socks, jockeys, base layer, knee pads, Ass pads, and a jimmy hat  .... just in case!

If you look in the socks section in winners, they have salomon's, k2, and some no name boarding socks, size s-m-l for 7.99$

now on the base layer, no idea.... i just got socks for my girl friend for cheap there, thats all i know, :)

and for the battery life on my wireless.... over 10 hours....

because when i went to tremblant, i charged them after the 3rd day....
and used them all day long....

so way better then wired.. plus i can take phone calls, and talk while riding :D
