Start Small and learn the basics. Start off by straight airing small jumps and do that until you are comfortable. Then try and do some grabs. Once you are comfartable doing this try it off a little bigger of a jump. Just get comfortable being in the air and landing and work your way up. Once you are comfortable in the air. Try doing some 180s off of small jumps.

As for rails- start by 50-50ing the smallest rails and boxes then doit on something a little bit bigger.

Bottom line: Start off by dialing the basics on small features. Take the basics to something a little bit bigger. Then when you want to learn new tricks, take it back to the small features and get those tricks dialed. Start Small!

like he said start small, and if you can get a lesson, lessons aren't just for people beginning to snowboard. The park instructors will tell you how to properly do stuff.

There are some pretty decent videos on youtube and tutorials around if you search google that help guide you in the right direction as far as body positioning goes.

start on boxes and small jumps. Don't do anything over your ability.
